Anyone want to lend or swap FFMs?

Post by recipefordisaster » Thu Feb 04, 2016 2:58 pm

It is sounding like the 30 day trials I've been using at my DME had a limit. I may be stuck with FitLife, which I haven't completely given up on yet, but most likely, I will. It's a small and has less than a week of use on it. I had no idea I wouldn't be able to get another mask if this didn't work, but I do understand that they have given me a lot of masks on trial, even though I've paid for 2 of them over the last 7 months. My insurance covers one per 6 months so I could get another in about 6 months, but am not sure they would let me try any or whether I would just have to commit to one.

I'm interested in trying a FFM that goes below the chin, or another FFM if not. I'd need a small or XS, particularly the headgear. I have Amara View and have tried F10 (before I knew that no masks would actually fit and I would have to pad them up... Now I want to try it with fleece, DuoDerm, or moleskin) and I believe that's it for FFMs as I knew my nose couldn't handle anything on it. I stopped taking them on trial from the DME and tried all kinds of nasal masks, pillows, and Dreamwear. I've never used anything with a forehead support as the RTs tell me that they don't really help. I'm not claustrophobic at all. My teeth seem to be sensitive to pressure from a mask, and I wake up instantly at the development of any leak. I don't have sensitive skin at all but I do get "dents" in my flesh.

I wouldn't mind trying Elan even though getting my lips to stay closed against pressure built up behind them requires a lot of tape and preparation. Otherwise I'd most like FFMs but I would gladly take suggestions.

I'm in New England for shipping or rendezvous purposes.

You can check out our sponsors they have several masks listed with free return insurance, which means if it doesn't work you have 30 days to return it. Those that don't have free insurance usually have it available to be bought. If you find a mask you would like to try give them a call, the price quoted may be less than online. https://www.cpap.com/cpap-masks.php You do usually have to pay because most insurance doesn't cover. You can always ask yours though.

I always see masks at severely discounted prices on Craigslist.

Ive got some Resmed masks about a year old, maybe a year and a half. I think they are airfit F10s. I never use them. Tried them a few nights, they never work the only thing that works for me is the good ole QUATTRO FULL FACE MASK! YEAH!

But I have a disease. But you could wash them in warm Ivory soap and get rid of that disease. I have rabies or distemper, I think.

I'd be willing to sell the two or three masks for $75 sent flat rate post office
Id be dead by now if I didn't use my CPAP gear every night.

I'll look at Craigslist... And I know about the free return insurance, but I can't swing $70-$200 for a mask, that may not work, on top of all of my copays. I'd have to wait until my insurance covers a new mask which would be June or so. I'm hoping to keep trying but I know I may have to take a break from therapy in the meantime.

Good one.

No luck anywhere so far. I'm pretty much done with FitLife after another bad night... Even with the mask very loose, my teeth are quite sore. I think the mask is just too heavy for my face and it's not like I can really sleep face down or even totally on my side with it.... On my side, it gets driven into my face too much. I can fit several fingers under any of the straps so it's not fair that it's still giving me soreness, while I am waking up with leaks! I taped it to my face, in the trouble zones, during the night, which helped, but not enough.
