Resmed Airfit P10 Headgear Advice Needed

Post by burgerboy7141 » Wed Feb 03, 2016 5:08 pm

Hello All.

Been a CPAP user >10 Years. Lately had to switch masks. I am now using the Airfit P10 headgear with the Large pillow. Overall I like the new mask but at night when I turn over it pops out of the nostril sometimes. Should I try the medium nasal pillow ? I feel like I should have the ability to tighten the headgear itself to hold the nasal pillows in place. I have manually adjusted the headgear in different positions on my skull but no success. I almost feel like I could take a small paper clip and tighten the headgear. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank You.

The pillows should be mostly sitting on the nostrils with only a small portion in the nose. One thing you might try is a barrel cozy. It might decrease movement of the pillows. http://padacheek.com/PACSwiftII_Barrel_cozy.html
And some people have sewed the loop portion of velcro on to the headgear to give it a little grip.

I used the P-10 for quite some time and thought it a great mask. To adjust the upward pressure of the pillows you need to either "spread" the two straps apart (which lessens the upward pressure), or keep them closer together (which increases the upward pressure). Just takes some playing with to get it right.

Others have snipped, cut, patched and otherwise modified the straps to achieve their desired result, but I didn't find that was necessary. YMMV.

Sure, don't hesitate to change to a smaller or larger size pillow. I started out with the small and it really hurt my nose and rubbed it raw in a day or two, but when I went to the large size it just "worked" and was actually comfortable. Just takes experimentation.

No one mask fits all. Don't feel bad about trying the "30 day trial" offers which the suppliers advertise. Eventually, you will find the right one.

I would guess that the P-10 is one of the most popular of the newer masks, but, again it isn't for everyone.

Sleep well,

Paul
