Re: Change for the better after 3 months

Great news! If the nasal pillows bug you, try a nasal mask. They are not that intrusive (to me).

Re: Did you get filters with your CPAP

Just curious how many members got a fine filter with their XPAP. I only got the foam filter from Apria with my M-Series Auto. Why ask? This is what Sacramento looked like today with all the area fires. How'd you like that blowing up your nose? http://www.kcra.com/2008/0624/16695462.jpg Wow! I'm bac...

Re: Auto Pap and weight gain

Deb: I have experienced the same thing. Gained 10-15 lbs. since starting therapy in October 2015. Weight gain seems to have plateaued at this point. Not too worried about it as I was lean to begin with. I consider it as my body returning to its "natural" weight after many years with an undiagnosed, ...

Re: starting CPAP aint easy

your cousin should be here, rather than having questions and advice filtered through you, no offense, but we've all played "telephone" before, and know how details get lost and altered in translation. I agree. I'm sure she'll be posting soon and get way more benefit by being part of the community t...

Re: 20+yrs with OSA, first night with cpap

I love to hear such a success story so early on in treatment. Wish I had gone in at 37 instead of 52. But such is life. I am feeling the best I have since my 20's after optimizing my therapy. Sounds like they got your settings in the ballpark on the first try, and that is a great thing.

Re: I'm scared

Mask fit and comfort is important. All I can tell you is the rest is a process. And if you think the medical community is behind on controlling blood pressure, you are in for a real treat regarding their ignorance about sleep apnea. They started my settings where you are, and over a three month proc...

Re: 6 Week Check-up

Mine did the same thing. The question is how are you feeling? I know I generally felt better when I got my overall average AHI below 2.0 consistently. That took a lot of reading, posting, asking for help, and tweaking of settings. If you want to try to get it lower, read the Sleepyhead tutorial and ...

Re: Sleep Debt

https://sleepfoundation.org/ask-the-expert/sleep-hygiene Chicago Granny has a better list, but this covers some basics. My biggest problem is I am naturally a night owl, but work early day shifts. So if I let myself revert to my night owl habits on weekends, it costs me during the week. I don't drin...

Re: Sleep Debt

I've been on "good" therapy since mid-February, AHI's below 2.0. There are definite differences. I don't have to drag myself out of bed in the morning anymore. But I still get fatigued sometimes. And still nap (with the machine) sometimes. I do find when I comply with most of the sleep hygiene requi...

Thank you everyone for the warm wishes. Thank you to those that emailed me that jnk had started this thread. You know who you are. My pressure is 18-20cm and I don't need or use the ramp. Definitely a feature many don't need.

Re: Strange results from sleep study

I wouldn't get wrapped around the axle with the sleep study, until you talk to your doctor. Also agree with PR's link. A sleep study is a snapshot of a small period of your overall sleep in an artificial environment. To me, it's a great tool for diagnosis. Optimal treatment, OTOH, is a different sto...

Re: Another........."Died in their sleep" story

My maternal grandmother died in her sleep at the "young" age of 62. I inherited most of my physical attributes from that branch of the family, so I have to wonder.

Re: anyone else have severe apnea?

I'm at APAP 18-20.0cm. Diagnosed with 37 AHI. Now down to 2.0 or less. Consistently. The pressure doesn't bother me one bit.
