What is your favorite full face mask with headgear and why?

Post by mcpascalns » Sun Jan 31, 2016 12:19 am

I am going to the medical supply store this month to 'tast' some of available full face masks with headgear. I am interested to tryout latest trends and best or most improved ones up there in the market. Please, tell me what is your favorite full face mask with headgear and why you like it? Please, let me know what full face masks with headgear to avoid and what to look up for. Thank you.

I have the Airfit F10. I love it because it is comfortable and I get zero leaks with it. I have it strapped pretty tight because I am on higher pressures and still no leaks. A mask is a personal thing, but I really like and have done well with this one. YMMV.

The only conventional full face mask I have been able to use is the F & P Simplus. All of the others I have tried made the bridge of my nose sore. I used it for six months before switching to the Amara View. I like the Amara View better since it does not rest on the bridge of my nose. However, it is much more prone to leaking than the Simplus was.

I use the Amara View Minimal Full Face Mask. I have tried F & P Simplus with pad-a-cheek but had too many leaks. I tried the nasal ones but couldn't use them because of mouth breathing. The only problem I have with the Amara View is the headgear. The velcro only lasts for about 2 months and then it will no longer hold. I have returned 2 sets of headgear so far after 2 months of usage. They are under warranty for 3 months. The mask is great but headgear is lousy.

Now using Quattro Air after trying several masks including Amara View (never could figure it out so leaks galore), originally used F10. I believe they came out with F10 so people could wear glasses while getting ready to sleep. The F10 cushion is identical to the Quattro Air cushion - only differences are the headgear.

I use the Zzz-Mask Full Face CPAP Mask by Probasics.

I like that it does not have the forehead support, and more then anything else I like the price. Compared the price to Resmed masks this mask is half price, and the replacement cushions are about half also. The mask works well for me, but every one is different. I have high pressure settings of 23/19, and so far this mask serves me well.

I wish you well...

Resmed Mirage Quattro. The original one. Why? It handles jaw drop the best of any full face mask on the market and jaw drop while asleep is difficult to tackle. But the Quattro's cushion handles jaw drop and kicks it in the ass.

Ive tried other full face masks and the cushions just dont work. Your jaw drops out of the mask while asleep. Not so with the good ole quattro. They will never find as good a full face mask as the quattro, the ORIGINAL Quattro.
Id be dead by now if I didn't use my CPAP gear every night.

Everybody's different. I love my F10, but I cannot wear my glasses with it... the bridge across the nose is too thick and too high up. However, the F10 for me is wonderful, as the headgear does not have a forehead strap. I started with Quattro Air, which, once I adjusted to cpap use, worked well for me after I started using mask liners to help with leaks. With the F10, the cheek straps are a hard plastic, which along with the thickened bridge, provide the stability that a forehead strap does on other headgear, and I was getting a sore on one of my cheeks. To prevent that, I use strap covers on the cheek strap.

It's hard to say that either F10 or Quattro Air is best; there are so many masks out there and so many faces to fit them on, that what works for me will work for you. It's a trial and error game.

I have read every post regarding best FF mask. However, the one question I have for all of you, how you deal with the force of air hitting your face? I would think every skin cell would have fits with the rushing air. I am the one who posted, "Nose with Attitude: Both nasal and pillows. What to do?" I am one again considering a FF mask.

The Mirage Quattro. It's a big, heavy, horrible piece of shit with like 84 parts, it's a nightmare to clean, the straps are horrible and stretch out like crazy within a month tops, but it just plain works and keeps the leaks in. It's the devil I know.

For CPAP I like my nasal mask. For Outside in the Cold I'm digging this one....
