Not Consistant

Post by Mopheus » Sat Jan 30, 2016 12:23 pm

I've been on apap for 3 months. Every night varries, mostly under 5 AHI, but that still leaves me whipped.
I know I can get good sleep but it is only like once or twice week. Here are shots of a bad night, followed by a
good night, so I know I can do it, I just want to get more like that last one. Not sure if I've done this right.....

I have to wonder why this forum uses such a clumsey and time-consuming method of posting. I'd like to post charts but just don't have the time to invest. Last attempt took me 25 minutes and then it failed. Enough of that.

I don't know, I followed the directions. I you go to the link, remove the IMG and brackets, the shots are there.
How do I post them here?

All you have to do is take off the IMG before and after like I did in the quote. Can't tell you what the difference might be in the nights but if it were me I would raise the Epap to 7 that would give the machine a start to prevent your hypopneas. That first night you had some centrals but it was toward the end of the night and you may have been transitioning to awake. Otherwise looks like mostly hypopneas.

it's actually *quite* simple, if you follow the clearly written instructions. it takes me about mayyyybe 2 minutes to post a new screenshot, and that's including the time to start up sleepyhead, make the screenshot, upload it to imgur, copy the link, and paste it into a post here.

https://sleep.tnet.com/resources/sleepyhead/shorganize

it's true, there are three pages of instructions to very very clearly explain how it works, but work it does.

the forum hosts would need a much larger server, and more expensive internet connection to host all the tons of images that people post here, whereas using imgur is free for them, and free for the user, and only a TINY bit more complicated. you still have to create a decent sleepyhead screenshot, and you still have to upload it, either way. the only thing that would be saved by hosting the images on cpaptalk would be the copying of the link from imgur into a post.

Here is what I propose.

1. Turn the ramp off. Your pressure requirements are not high, so ramp may be unnecessary.

2. Raise your minimum pressure to 6 or 7 from 5. I get a feeling of suffocation when the pressure is under 7. Others say they get the same feeling if the pressure is under 6.

3. Check how you are doing with this list:
- Practice good sleep hygiene (Google it and read several sources)
- Eat a good diet
- Have a regular, moderate exercise program
- Try to avoid daytime naps.
- Practice total abstinence of caffeine including sources like chocolate (sigh)
- Review all medicines, vitamins and supplements you are taking to make sure none are interfering with sleep
- Use the bedroom for sleeping (and sex) only, and make sure the bedroom and bed are comfortable.
- Optimize emotional stress in your life
- Use CPAP software to make sure your therapy is optimized
- If you still don't feel or sleep well, make sure you have regular medical checkups to confirm there are no other medical problems.

Where are you having problems? Can you post a chart to Imgur? If so, you then only have to copy the Imgur link into your cpaptalk post.

Thanks for help. I am too tired to mess with any thing to night. I should try a base pressure of 5 to 7 ?

Set your low pressure to 7 and the high one at 11, that should cover most things for a one night trial.

I bumped my min pressure to six. I had one ok night and 2 miserable nights. There is no consistency. Why can I have a good night, but not be able to repeat it?
It seems like I get one ok night a week. I am always tired, my legs feal like lead.My life is pretty much over. I cant work, any more.I bet there are a significant number of suicides that were apnea sufferes. I am too wrecked now to try to post a screen ahot.

Can you respond to this checklist --->

I believe you still need to optimize your therapy. So when you get the chance post the screenshot. From your original screenshots, I would increase that Min to 7.
CPAP treats sleep disordered breathing but there could be other contributing factors to your symptoms. Take a good look at ChicagoGranny's list and make sure you've had recent blood work to rule out other causes for fatigue.
