New to Forum

Post by tfaff » Wed Jan 13, 2016 3:54 am

Hi, I amso glad to find others who are working as hard as I am to sleep well and feel better.

I have been using a CPAP for almost a year, I didnt get much assistance from my doctor because we moved to another state during that time and things got busy. At one point I almost stopped using the machine because it was keeping me up with leaking so often. It took four months to get into a new doctor here, and I am finally getting some answers, but I have been all but incapacitated with unbelievable fatigue.

I just now learned that the DME fitted me with a large wisp mask, when I should have had a petite, and they also told me the wisp hasn't work that well anyways. The new DME here set me up with a pillow mask and I am adjusting to that.

My AHIs are still between 6 and 10 so it would be helpful if someone could take a look at my sleepyhead results, I just cant figure out how to post them here once I save the screen shot. Can someone help me put that on here?

I am desparate to start feeling normal again. Thank you.

How to post images
https://sleep.tnet.com/reference/tips/imgur

and some examples of what we like to see and how to arrange the graphs
viewtopic/t103468/Need-help-with-screen-shots.html

We don't need all the graphs with a gazillion screen shots
just the basics to start with.

Where's the leak graph?
You can click and drag the bottom line of each graph to resize them so that Events, Flow rate, Pressure and Leak are all on one image.
Turn off the pie cart on the left so we can see the statistics better.

Are you logged in to the Imgur.com website so that you see a box with all sorts of addresses for your image?
Like this

You need to use the last line in that box of addresses.

Referring to your first image.
Your pressure settings are sub optimal....you are maxing out the maximum of 11 several times during the night...you can see where it goes up and stays there.
How did you come up with these settings?

I also think that the minimum of 8 cm could stand to be increased a little but for sure the maximum needs more room to go.

The RERA, FLs , snores along with the hyponeas and OAs point to the minimum pressure not doing an optimal job.

Don't know what happened at 18:00 with all the CAs unless the OAs caused some arousals and those are post arousal CAs.

Second image.
much improved but most likely still needs more minimum pressure....probably 1 cm more.
and if you see many ugly nights like the other report I would still increase the maximum for whatever it was that caused that incase it happens again.

Great, thanks for the tips, Ill bump the max up. It was originally set up at 7 min and 10 max. Then they gave me a large wisp mask, when I needed a petite. Ive been bumbling along exhausted for a few years so this is improvement, I have days where I feel great actually. So there is hope.

Sorry this so choppy, this was a foggy day after a bad night, but I am challenged to get help here so maybe tonight will be an improvement. Pugsy, I will bump up the min and max, how much should I increase the max from 11?

Ive used Sleepyhead for five or six weeks now, and my AHIs range from 4 to 14.5, the average being the mid seven range. Sorry its hard to put this down in an orderly way because it is an all encompassing problem, all I do is sleep or prepare for the next night, and my thinking is super foggy. Thankfully my husband is very patient and helpful to get me well again.

One thing you might try is some petroleum jelly inside the edge of your nostrils, it helps a lot with the pillows and also the dryness. I swear it helps the seal, too. But that could just be my imagination.

I would increase the maximum from 11 to 15...it won't go where it doesn't think it needs to go without a good reason.

I would just increase the minimum 1 cm though at this time. The minimum is the most critical setting.

Ok, I will try the vaseline on the mask. And I am resetting the CPAP numbers tonight. Im very thankful for your good advice/suggestions. My doctor seemed glad to send me home with an AHI of 13, since it had come down from 32 on my sleep study. This forum is invaluable, but you all get that. Now I think I will survive to see my doctor after five weeks.

Aquaphor works too, if you have some of that lying around. And hey, 13 from 32 sounds like you're heading in the right direction! You'll get to the sweet spot, I know it.
