Airsense 10 Autoset from Craigslist

Post by MikeZzz » Sat Dec 19, 2015 2:23 pm

For better or worse, my judgement may be flawed. But, I am about to purchase what has been advertised as a NEW (clarified "ZERO" hours) Airsense 10 Autoset CPAP machine. The reason I went the Craigslist route was frustration with local DME, my high deductible insurance, and the ability to get it for half the price of even cpap.com.

I have a couple of questions, hopefully they can be answered before I make the purchase this evening:

1. I had a tritation study done, and the recommended pressure on the prescription was 8cm. This being an auto model, should I disable the auto feature and set it to straight 8cm (if that's even possible)? Or should I set it to a range like 4-8, or 6-10 or something?

2. How can I get the advanced data from this model to Sleepyhead so I can monitor my results more precisely?

3. Aside from verifying the hours are zero on the machine, and the assumed risk if something breaks, are there some other considerations I should make before pulling the trigger on buying this?

Mike, be sure you're looking at total RUN hours and not Used hours. Used hours can be reset to zero but Run hours cannot.

If you haven't seen the clinical manual you might want to take a look.
https://sleep.tnet.com/home/files/resme ... -guide.pdf
There are 2 modes available...fixed cpap or the auto adjusting apap mode and it's easy to change.
The data is stored on a little SD card and any SD card will work.
As long as your computer has a little SD slot in it that is all you will need to use the software.
If your computer doesn't have a slot then all you would need is a little reader/adapter so you could use one of your computer's USB ports. Any reader/adapter will work ...doesn't have to be name brand.

You can set the Autoset in CPAP mode or leave it in Auto with a close range. I would use the range and you could start with the 6-10 but may need to increase the minimum closer to 8.

2. How can I get the advanced data from this model to Sleepyhead so I can monitor my results more precisely?
You use the SD card and read it in a computer that has Sleepyhead on it.
3. Aside from verifying the hours are zero on the machine, and the assumed risk if something breaks, are there some other considerations I should make before pulling the trigger on buying this? Make sure there is no smoke smell if you are sensitive. Check Total Run hours.
Also, Grayghost4 is a trusted member that I have bought from.

Everything worked out OK. I got a new Airsense 10 Autoset with an Airfit P10 nasal pillow mask, F&P Simplus full face mask, climateline tubing, and 6 replacement filters for $525.00. I am pretty happy with that. Everything was new, sealed in original packaging. I have used it the last 2 nights without any issue (with the equipment, anyway. I did have some issues with sleep last night, which I will post about shortly). Thanks everyone for the advice!
