Re: UPPP for Palatal Prolapse?
I really advise you against this surgery. Palatal prolapse is very difficult to resolve. The best success I have had is using a bed that can be adjusted to sleep position.I have to say I'm a back sleeper and with an angle of about 20-30 degrees my situation improves by 90%. I had BSS surgery (link b...

See the surgeon again and ask them - you want the right opinion, not a guess.

UPPP for Palatal Prolapse?
Has anyone had UPPP surgery for palatal prolapse? I suspect i have palatal prolapse as Nasal stents unblocked the soft palate/nose area so i could nose exhale again but it was not sufficient. It was a back2sleep stent that is really ...

Redundant Soft Palate / palatal prolapse ?...in the UK
... Private ENT said I have a redundant palate, Is this the same as a palatal prolapse? He could not say which procedure would be best but standard UPPP is not advisable as it does not fix the problem and can make cpap use less usable. He told me to lose all my weight and go back when i am my ideal ...

Since going back on CPAP in Oct 2024 (put on CPAP in 1997 with a long break due to UPPP surgery) I've been working (via the two forums I'm on) to dial in my therapy to a point that it works but is as painless as CPAP can be. As of late. My therapeutic pressure has ...

Robysue1, Per the P10. That is the mask that I requested when the VA sent the machine to me. When I was on CPAP years ago before the UPPP surgery. I had the adams (resperonics) nasal pillows where the tube ran over my head. It worked very well for me. But as it was simple and worked. It ...

That was hella painful. But it worked for 23 years. But now it (apnea) has returned. My ENT likened that UPPP ...

... it is excess tissue from the soft palate, it really feels like that. I'm willing to take a gamble and go for soft tissue removal surgery (modified UPPP) or pillar implant. I'll try to get a DISE done prior but it seems no one around here does that (Auckland, New Zealand).

I wish some people had replied to this with good info. I’m in the same situation, but I didn’t have UPPP. I had double jaw surgery in 2021. I’ve used CPAP, Bipap, VAuto, ASV, a range of different pressures on each machine, mouth tape, cervical collar, chin strap, etc. and ...
