Need device for cleaning stained vents on Airfit Pro 10 mask

Post by BIGsherm7272 » Mon Nov 30, 2015 10:09 pm

As some of you my already know, I had an issue where my fine-white filter became completely black overnight, and the vents on my mask (Resmed Airfit Pro 10) have developed a grey discoloration, which I would assume is from whatever substance the leaked through my suddenly filthy filter. I will attach the link to my original thread for those who are curious.

viewtopic/t109183/Black-hypoallergenic- ... -mask.html

I created this separate thread because the other one was way too broad in order for me to ask a simple question, one which is of the most concern to me at this point.

I was able to remove some of the discoloration/debris from the vents on my mask using anti-bacterial hand soap (non-triclosan) mixed in warm water and let my mask soak in it for a few hours. After that, I took the mask out of the water and added a little more soap to the vents and used a toothbrush to moderately brush them on both sides, for a good couple minutes for each vent. After all of this, I would say that I was able to clear about 25-30% of the original debris in the vents. I understand the vent mesh is extremely fine, as not even mater would seep through the top of them. So maybe I am going about this the wrong way.

Does anyone else who as had a maybe not similar, but sort of situation that involved a somewhat related outcome have any tips as to what method/cleaning supplies I can use? I am still pretty new to CPAP, and unfortunately this happened to my machine, and I need to find way to get this mask clean, as I cannot afford another one, nor to go without it for any period of time.

So I m pretty much asking for some heavy-duty cleaning techniques/chemicals/soaps that I should use to finally be able to get rid of this debris in the ultra-fine mesh that my mask vents are made of. Thank you in advance to anyone who gives me some guidance or advice.

I haven't tried this but If you have a Waterpik or other oral irrigator it might work.

Do you need the whole Airfit P10 or just the pillow?
What size pillow do you use?

I think what he needs is the frame with the short hose because the vents are on the frame, and maybe a pillow. I did see the frame on ebay for $33.99.

I found a cheap generic oral irrigator, which cleans the mesh like NEW!

Thank you very much for your offer, it really means a lot to me, but I still have the small and large ones it came with, and I think the medium pillow itself is fine. But i really do appreciate you generosity and thoughtfulness!

Oh wow I can get the frame that cheap? I may be able to do that than, just kinda tight on money now due to school getting ready to start back up and have no income and health coverage unfortunately.

It's amazing the things you take for granted, especially the ones your parents have lovingly have given you (such as amazing health coverage), and when they are gone its like a huge tower of reality collapsing on you. I unfortunately absolutely can not go much longer without health coverage, being as at even the the age of 26, I have many severe health conditions that require very specialized and expensive treatment, such as Severe Plaque Psoriasis (30% total body coverage), Psoriatic Arthritis throughout body, Wolf-Parkinson-White syndrome (very rare heart abnormality), Asthma, Mental health issues, Severe sleeping issues other than OSA, and a few others that are no walk in the park.

Just my medicine for Psoriasis Costs over $900/month, and I am am on many other expensive medicines, and also need an ablation to stop my Wolf-Parkinson-White induced Supra-Ventricular-Tachycardia (SVT), and many other countless things.

Its just kinda depressing that I can't provide for myself yet and I live in fear and worry 24/7 when my body is finally going to raise the white flag and cease to be. Not a meaningful, nor anywhere near fulfilling life to live.

I have a spare short hose/frame for the P10 that you can just have.
Brand new...I will pirate it out of a complete package that I had set aside for a spare.

If you could reimburse postage I would appreciate it. I send out quite a bit of stuff and it kinda adds up.
$6 USPS Priority. I do have PayPal. You don't have to pay in advance though...I will trust you.
Send me a private message with your name and address and I can get it out in the mail today as I have another package to take to the post office anyway.

I just looked on EBay and the only short hose/frame I saw was an auction and it didn't have a Buy it Now price that I could see.

Yes, please. We don't like for personal information to be public because then you invite all sorts of junk mail.
I will send you a PM and you can reply to it if you are having trouble figuring out private messaging system.

OkyDoky,

You are a genius!!!

Just cleaned 2 sets of frames/mesh with my water pic - it cleaned them up in no time at all (also managed to spatter my whole bathroom ) No more air hunger from clogged mesh on my P10's.

No need to buy new whole frames for dirty/clogged mesh - just water pic them! Even if you don't have a water pic buying an inexpensive one will quickly pay for itself.

This forum and the people on it are fabulous!!
