cold hands
I seem to experience this. Does anyone else get this?
Re: cold hands
I do! Even though I'm hot-natured, my hands are always like ice. I had carpal/cubical/pronator release surgery a month ago, and I hoped it would warm up my hand, but it didn't. I also had thyroid cancer and was put on a suppression dose of Synthroid (which keeps me hyperthyroid), so I can't blame it on an under active thyroid. I have wondered about it for years...

Re: cold hands
Just had this discussion with my internist. She said that at least 50% of women over a certain age complain of this, especially in the Winter months. Many more women than men and there is no known reason.tiredandscared wrote:I seem to experience this. Does anyone else get this?

Re: cold hands
Out of curiosity I googled to see what cold hands are a symptom of and there were several possibilities. Has your doctor already ruled anything out?

Re: cold hands
I haven't gone to a doctor. I Assumed it has something to do with OSA. It seems to be better the days I have less issues with sleep. Bur then again my room is quite cold
Re: cold hands
Well, in my case, it's just getting older. Don't know how old you are, but once you hit your 50s, all sorts of stuff doesn't work like it used to. This year, it's the hands. So, I bought a pair of gloves with open fingers and the mitten top and am knitting up some fingertipless gloves for late afternoon when the furnace tends not to run so much. I agree, you should get it checked out to rule out some causes, but my Mom, who has no health problems at 81, started getting cold hands about the same age I am now. So, the fact that I have diabetes probably has nothing to do with it.

Re: cold hands
I have always had cold hands and feet - in fact my dear mother's nickname for me was "snakehands" despite the fact that I pointed out that snakes did not feel cold to the touch.
One can warm ones hands by learning simple relaxation techniques called "autogenics" However if it is a new thing then get it checked out first.
Note: Once I got my cpap machine my cold feet at night disappeared.

Re: cold hands
What I'm asking is if anyone had cold hands related to sleep apnea that abated when treated? I'm beginning to believe it has something to do with hypoxia.

None of this fits...just a 22 year old kid with NVLD and anxiety.SewTired wrote:Well, in my case, it's just getting older. Re: cold hands
Hands are always cold.... even when the rest of me is not. Use these (have two) occasionally (like today)
BTW, for me, cold hands is a symptom of a medical condition I have so no surprise. Not OSA related for me.

Re: cold hands
See your doctor to rule out anything weird.
If there is no underlying health issue, turn up the heat or wear gloves.

Re: cold hands
I'll need to get this treated properly first. The times I do get sleep apnea sleep. I seem to wake up with much colder hands than normal. I might be hypothyroid. But I'll have to get this treated first. I'm getting a dental device within a week and another CPAP machine. I'm holding down the fort at the moment. Whats most screwed up is that I seem to get worse cognitive symptoms each month. Even though I've never had lots of oxygen desaturation or a super high AHI.

Re: cold hands
Lack of sleep makes me feel cold in general. I feel a lot warmer sleeping now with cpap machine then before without it. I haven't used more then one or two blankets since. The duvet has stayed in the closet or used as a pillow since I got my machine - except when it gets really cold in the winter (-30 c outside - we keep the night temp set to 15C but the furnace can't always keep up)tiredandscared wrote:I'll need to get this treated properly first.
