Any NASAL masks w/o REDNESS ???

Post by Papit » Tue Nov 24, 2015 2:44 pm

Has anybody had redness caused by Nasal masks AND found a NEW one that solved the problem?

I use pillows masks to avoid redness on the bridge of my nose. However, my lowest leak readings have always been on those few occasions when using Nasal masks. Am getting new equipment and wonder if there's anything new.

Very interesting and it sure uses a novel idea for sealing. I can see how it could be more comfortable and press more lightly on one's nose. Great suggestion. I'll ask for it and give it a shot. Thanks!

What nasal mask have you tried in the past and developed nasal bridge issues with?
I hate to recommend something you have already tried.
I have minimal experience with nasal masks long term but I have tried a few with some working out decently and some being horrible failures.

I tried Respironics WISP, ResMed Mirage FX, Respironics OptiLife, ResMed Swift FX Nano and others I mailed you a couple years back. They all seem to use the same material that comes in contact with the bridge of my nose. I may be sensitive to that stuff. Only slight pressure reddens me and like a lot of other folks, after a few days I'd get sore. So chunkyfrog may be on to something with those billowy cloth models made by Circadiance. I think the Elan she mentioned is their latest greatest. http://www.circadiance.com/sleepweaver-elan/ See video.

Nope, I haven't tried that one. Thanks for the lead. I'll check it out.

Well you shot my list down. I was afraid of that since you have tried so many in the past but was still hoping.
I have not used a cloth mask. I briefly (very brief) tried one some years ago and I never could get the darn thing to seal but I admit that I gave up quickly. It just didn't interest me enough to try harder with it.
I do think it was one of the first models though and I think the newer ones are much improved.

It may just be the way your skin is easily irritated by the silicone. I know you know not to have them too tight.
I can't think of anything that you haven't tried. Sorry. But if I do happen to think of something I will let you know.

No. I've see them mentioned here before but never gave it much thought. Now I have, thanks, and it looks promising. Here's a link for anybody else curious about these liners. http://1800cpap.com/pad-a-cheek-nasal-m ... Hwod93gM1A

Sorry that many replies here are to try gadget swapping.
Obviously you have have a member on this forum since "Mon Dec 19, 2011".

Read the Stickie on this very common, ordinary (& boring) problem - first.
If it has not been written yet, ... ??

How old are your straps, clips, etc? Are they all is good working order? From what you do not say, everything in your CPAP life is the same: medical health, life stressors, sleeping circumstances, etc.

It would be helpful to know your other attempts to fix the problem. Straps loosened or tightened. Facial skin conditioned, cleaned, etc. Equipment cleaned & maintained ok? What other masks have you tried? Is the place you use the CPAP machinery changed at all - air humidity, cleanliness, etc?

Often hidden medical conditions will change the sensitivity of the skin in our face. As a masculine man, I find feminine advice on skin condition and skin care to be useful.
