sleepyhead won't run the CMS50D+ software that came with the oximeter. Do I need a new driver and where can I get it?

oN MY cms50I Sleepyhead reads the data directly from the device.
SH does not use any external software as far as I know.

There are several Sleepyhead experts around here who can certainly correct me if I am wrong, There is a first time for everything.

I bought mine from Light In the Box. You CANNOT get these in the United States, well at least not unless you find one used or some other source, because they are not authorized for sale here. This is the one I bought.

Do NOT buy the CMS50D+. I bought one as a stop gap before I bought the CMS50I above. That one you can buy on Amazon and yes it is cheaper. By the end of the night it'll also be driving you nuts, it's a heavy little device clamping down on your finder. Don't get me wrong, it works fine. But if you want to use it for ongoing monitoring it's not what I'd buy. YMMV.

Your post doesn't quite make sense as sleepyhead has nothing to do with the software that comes with the CMS50D, that software does not even need to be installed for sleepyhead to work. However you do need to install a driver for the computer to recognize the oximiter and in turn communicate with sleepyhead, I assume that is what you are asking about. This is where I downloaded mine.

I could use a little help getting Sleepyhead to read the oximeter data. I have the CMS50E. I have been successful downloading the oximeter data into SPO2 Assistant software theat came with the device using the wireless feature, but so far I cant find a way to get Sleepyhead to read the data. I have tried opening the oximeter data file that was saved in the SPO2 Assistant software in Sleepyhead, but Sleepyhead does not recognize the file extension. I tried renaming the extension, but that just locks-up Sleepyhead when it tries to read it.

Does anyone know if Sleepyhead can received the oximeter data by a wireless download?

If not, what steps do you use to connect the oximeter by hard wire?

I don't believe sleepyhead can read the file that sp02 creates, you have to pull the data off with Sleepyhead.

Can't use bluetooth to my knowledge. I used a USB cable to get the data off, both my oximiters came with the appropriate USB cable. If you try that and can't achieve success report back.

I almost forgot, the other difference is the CMS50D+ will only hold one nights data, so if you don't pull the data off, the next time you use it, the previous night get deleted. With the model I linked to it will hold a months worth of data (or something like that).

Jumping--thanks for the insight. I have tried to connect the CMS50E directly to the computer using the USB cable, but Sleepyhead does not recognize it when I try to scan for devices. I tried all 4 USB ports on my computer with no success. Maybe the proper driver was not loaded when I installed the device software. Is there a chance that there is a different driver for hard wire than the wireless download?

Did you install the drivers I linked to above? NOT the software but the drivers. Here:

I am going by memory but I believe I had to install the drivers above to get it to be seen by Sleepyhead. Otherwise SP02 would see it, but not Sleephead. Please try those and report back.

Jumping - I I downloaded and installed driver, still no luck get Sleepyhead to read Oximeter data. The error message says to turn on device and be sure the device is ready to download. The only setting I see is the the wireless download setting the imports to SPO2 software.

OK, a few questions and suggestions to help get to the bottom of this.

1. Are you using a Windows machine, Mac machine, or Windows virtual machine on a Mac?

2. Can you see if you are able to connect and download to SP02 via wired USB? Make sure bluetooth is off so you know the connection is taking place over wired. You should also be able connect via wired to SP02 and view your oxygen level in real time on SP02.

Once you report back I'll see if I can offer some more suggestions.

OK!! First-I am using Windows 7 Pro.

I have been successful in connecting to SPO2 with both the wire and wireless. SPO2 recognizes the device and I can download the recorded file. But still no success downloading directly into Sleepyhead. I can view the pulse and %O2 strips in the SPO2 software, but it would be nice to directly see it under the Events/Pressure/respiratory strips in Sleepyhead.

All I can do here is keep throwing suggestions out there. The next thing I would try is installing the 32-bit Windows version, if by chance you are running the 64-bit version. Even though I'm running Windows 7 64-bit, I don't think I was able to get the 64 bit version of SH to work. However I was able to get the 32-bit version to work.
