Dad's machine is acting funny...

Post by FlyingMoose » Fri Nov 20, 2015 8:01 am

So my dad turned off his machine yesterday morning around 7:00, and was surprised when the time in the sleep report only showed about half of what it should. I loaded the data into sleephead and it looks like something went screwy during the night, and shortly after that the recording stopped. There should be about another 5 hours of data after this:

We tried a short test session, and the sleep report showed the time but no data was recorded on the card. Power-cycled the machine and tried again, and it added time to the sleep report but again no data on the card.

Last night it seemed to record properly (last minute of recording, not sure which stat would show tube blockage):

But when he turned it off, got an error message:

We checked the tubing and there was no water or blockage.

Any ideas?

Absent the error report, I would have thought it was a SD card failure and suggested replacement.
With the error message, it sounds like an internal failure of the machine.
Contact the DME for repair or replacement.

No idea about the tubing message.

Be sure to let the machine sit for a while after you turn it off before removing the SD card.

Sometimes, the data gaps just happen. Power outages can do that, or it may be space aliens. A failing SD card could do some of that, too. Generally, any SD card 2 GB or larger will work.

You might try using ResScan and seeing if you get the same data gaps you get with SleepyHead.

Did you actually unplug for at least 2 minutes to reset? If you did you have a dead machine. Do you have a spare? If you don't then now might be a good time to get one. Used S9s are quite cheap right now.
