Setting for moisture and tube temp

Post by seeing you » Thu Oct 08, 2015 6:36 pm

I have an Auto C-pap new to all this and it has auto climate or you can set the humidity and tube temp. I use nose pillows and have a ResMed Mirage Quattro Frame Sys. Have used both I like pillows but my mouth will open even with chin strap and with Quattro Frame Sys I thought that maybe the dry mouth would not occur but as with the pillows when mouth opens seems even with the Quattro I still get dry mouth. I have tried several settings and auto climate function but kept no record so starting over with nose pillows tonight but will keep record if I am using auto climate or setting the numbers for humidity and tube air temp. Seems the air gets too warm and I wake up then hard to get back to sleep or wake up with dry mouth and have to drink water. I am a 71 year old male and before c-pap would get up maybe once or twice if I drank a lot of liquids before bed time but now with c-pap I am up four to five times a night can not figure it out unless the moisture coming in on the air is causing it I am puzzled. Can any one give me some idea of how to work the humidity numbers and tube temp to get the best sittings. It starts off feeling good but I guess as I exhale with Quattro it mixes with the warm air coming through the tube and makes it warmer and wakes me up then I have to get up got to bath room. When I do sleep fairly well with either of these units I feel very good in the morning but when I have a bad night wow not so good. Just trying to find that right sweet spot and which of these two type mask will work best for me all the time. Thanks for any info. Larry

Assuming you have a machine such as my Airsense 10, the whole point is that you can adjust as needed for tube temp and humidity amount. I am in Maine with a very variable climate. Hot nights in the summer (for a couple of weeks), so I had both the humidity and tube temp set low. Now it is colder at night, so I have jacked up both temps some. Personally, I often like the tube temp about 76 or 78 and the humidity at setting 2 to 4. The colder it is at night, the higher they go. These are such great features for a location with a changeable climate. I suggest you m ess around with it a bit and realize that you have the huge advantage of choice!!!

Thanks for the info from Maine that helps me for sure. My machine is a Res med S-9 Autoset auto a-pap I think is what they all it. I can either go auto settings or set temps on my own. I have both nose pillows and full face mask right now trying to adjust the pillows. I have had unit about a month but have not kept records of how I set it each night so going to keep record that way I will find best settings for me in relationship to room temp.
