CPAP ....Feeling like a air balloon
CPAP ....Feeling like a air balloon
8 weeks in ...with severe sleep apnea .... also copd...working hard at keeping it on all night ...having to take pills to calm me ...due to panic attacks ...having hair loss never had this before ....also feel and look like a air balloon with weight gain .....food intake same ...Need help
Re: CPAP ....Feeling like a air balloon
What meds are you taking - I ask because most people find their hair grows more on Cpap (all that oxygen) and your meds may be causing the hair loss. Also, do a forum search for "aerophagia" (the bloating you have) for lots of info on that. I know it's not rational, but panic attacks over something that could save your life are not good, but e.g. try wearing the mask during the day while watching TV, etc... it's helped a lot of people get used to having it on.

Re: CPAP ....Feeling like a air balloon
Other than the "air balloon" (possibly bloating) which could be "aerophagia" (ingesting air) as Julie mentioned, that's not much information to go on.bosco1111 wrote:8 weeks in ...with severe sleep apnea .... also copd...working hard at keeping it on all night ...having to take pills to calm me ...due to panic attacks ...having hair loss never had this before ....also feel and look like a air balloon with weight gain .....food intake same ...Need help
Please register as a member of the forum and fill in your profile with the exact equipment and settings you're using so we can try to help you. There are any number of possibilities for the causes of what you're experiencing.......pressure and humidifier settings, mask selection/sizing, etc., etc. But, we need more information.

Re: CPAP ....Feeling like a air balloon
Question here Julie , yes lots of air but the machine is not hooked up to oxygen .....was on oxygen for 14 days and nights but wanted to get off and I made it count wise ...But have not had a good night sleep since and really did not know it at that time ......was afraid that I was going to be depending on it ...But it was like putting moisture on dry skin felt good

Write down all your symptoms, with your name, birthdate, and phone number.
Take the list to your doctor's office. Ask the staff to give the list to your doctor.
Do not wait for the "next appointment". They should call YOU.
Or you could just try oxygen again--nice catch, Julie!

aerophagia...what do you do for this ?? If that is what is going on with me ??
Re: CPAP ....Feeling like a air balloon
Hi - never occurred to me you were on 02, but it's still a component of room air after all. I hope you didn't end up reading a particular link/thread about someone who was on 02 - there's a lot more about just regular OSA and aerophagia.
