Chin Strap Suggestions
Last night was the first night I was able to fall asleep with the mask on while watching TV! In fact, i almost forgot it was on. That being said, I only lasted 5 hours because my mouth kept drying out, I would wake up, take off the mask, take a sip of water and start it all over again and again! My ...

Re: Terminal Melanoma
Thank you to all for the prayers and support. Today I just couldn't do a thing to please him. I know he is stressed but I am not used to him being that way. It was a rough day. I hope tomorrow is better. Please message me. I can offer advice as my Father is currently battling Stage 4 Melanoma, and ...

Re: Help! Day 2 of CPAP, is it supposed to leak this much?
I may be giving bad advice as I am new to this as well, so take what I say with a grain of salt. Are you sure the mask is leaking? What do your leaks say on your machine in the morning? I ask because towards the bridge of the nose there are vent holes for the air to escape which is not a leak. At fi...

Re: POLL: What was your sleep study AHI?
Charlambe - Dreaming is a pretty good indiction you are getting REM sleep, although some dreaming happens during nonREM also. If dreaming is new since using cpap, sounds like a good thing to me. Your sleep study reports should have a total listed for your apneas and hypopneas for the night, and als...

Re: POLL: What was your sleep study AHI?
My AHI was 73. I was pretty upset at this number, but the doctor explained that someone with 30-40 can be way worse off than someone with a high number because their events can be much longer and their desats can be very low. If you think about it, someone with long events can only have so many in a...

Re: First night AHI problem
Thank you for this information. I will try again tonight. It's just jarring me out of my drowsiness and the air bubble sensation is not comfortable. I also woke up with a bit of gas (TMI sorry) so I must be swallowing air. Perhaps you can answer another question of mine. If for some reason it contin...

First night AHI problem
Hoping for some feedback. I had my first night with the mask, and it didn’t go as well as I had hoped, although I know this is an adjustment that won’t happen over night (pun intended). I wore the mask for a total of 1 hr 45 minutes. I know this doesn’t sound like a lot, but the DME suggested that I...

The links provided will give you great detailed advice, so I will just touch on the high points. First get an auto CPAP from either Rested or Resperonics, all the auto machines provide full data and will allow you to self adjust in the future as your circumstances change and you learn more about yo...

Newbie and questions
Hello to all - I have been lurking for a few weeks now while I have been processing my dianosis. I had an in lab study with an AHI of 73 (i think that's the correct way to say it, still learning the terms you all use). I am happy to have found a place of support as I realize this won't be an easy ro...
