Stupid Report...

So we came to South Bend to see my son -- along with 600 other Notre Dame Glee Club members and alumni -- perform their 100th Anniversary concert. CPAP in a hotel room can be a bit of an adventure...

I put the CPAP on the floor between bed and wall next to the electrical outlet. I never sleep well in hotels, so I was up to the bathroom several times through the night. A couple of times there were things appearing on the screen, but because of the angle, and the machine on the floor, and I left my bedside magnifying glass at home, I was frustrated in seeing what they said. This morning I woke up to the "is the machine on?" and felt in front of the mask, and no, it wasn't blowing!!!

And I had my phone charger plugged into the other plug in the socket, and it wasn't charging, either. I was afraid maybe there was a power surge, but very relieved that, when plugged into another outlet, both phone and cpap are fine. I pulled out the card and read it on my computer, and it shows that the machine was on until 4:10am, recording and happy.

As we left, I went to the front desk to tell them that I had blown the circuit for the plug. At which point the desk clerk told me that that particular outlet is wired into the switch by the room door.

Yes, because I know having lights on is bad sleep hygiene, I had turned off the light switch at, well, 4:10am!

*sigh*

Cpap in a hotel is always a challenge.
Any outlet near the bed is already in use. Always!
Wednesday night, I had to unplug the clock to use my cpap;
and we charged our phones in the bathroom.
I left the clock back in the original spot, with midnight flashing.

This plug has helped me several times in a hotel. http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-3-Outlet-T ... R160%2C160_ I just use the plug behind the bedside table. Then I'm able to set my machine on the table. Sometimes I have to plug their radio or light in it to have access to the plug. A bonus is that I can charge my phone and Kindle at the same time.

I too carry two of these. One travels in my CPAP bag and the other with the computer bag. The plug can be rotated to fit your needs as well.

Last trip I took a surge protected power strip with a 20' cord. It came in handy! In one case the only usable outlet was clear across the room and I had a place to charge my phone AND plug in a mini fan to keep menopausal mama from freezing the rest of the family.

My thought was also a power strip (with USB slots) because in other threads, people reported the cord not being long enough because the plugins aren't always accessible next to the bed. Fortunately, for my very first trip with CPAP, the power was closer than it is at home. Bought some purified drinking water at the local gas station since I wasn't going to lug a whole gallon of distilled for 2 nights.
