will my new sd card work with Encore or do I need sleepyhead

Post by hegel » Fri Oct 02, 2015 3:34 pm

I bought a new machine with a smaller sd card than my old one. My computer doesn't have a port for this card; I just bought a card reader that will fit. I have Encore Basic downloaded. I'm fine with that. Will this card from my PR remstar auto system one work with Encore, or do I need to download sleepyhead? I know, I could just try it but I'm inept at things computer and I don't want to erase the card or something. also, I hate downloading things because again I'm inept. But hey, I'm competent in other ways--so no jokes!

This is where size really doesn't matter. It's the data being contained on the cards memory chip that matters and that is what you're after. The chip is very likely the same size in both cards. The only difference is the outer package.

I hope this helps.

The old card was a smart card, the new one is an SD card. If your Encore Basic is relatively new, it should read the data just fine. Just trying it won't lose any data.

Encore Basic will work fine but create a new patient profile for the SD card data from the new machine.

Encore is happy to mix multiple machines within the same model category or data source but it won't want to mix the data from the Smart card and the SD card.
So multiple machines using a smart card or multiple machines using a SD card is okay but can't mix smart card and SD card data.

I forced the issue and ended up losing all my M series data...so now I tell people to create a new profile when changing from smart card to SD card data.

all my old profile consists of is my name and patient id. I installed this myself; this data must have come from the old card. I didn't enter this info. If I change my name or patient id to create a new profile, will the original data be on my new smart card and will this create problems?

I don't understand your question.

If the old patient profile has been used with the smart card then there is going to be data in that profile and you can't add the new System One SD card data to that old profile.

You can't add old machine data to the new SD card if that is what you are asking.
The SD card contents can only pertain to the System One machine.

It hurts nothing to have 2 patient profiles with one being for the older machine and the other being for the new machine. There's no way to combine the profiles that I know of.

sorry no I thought that you meant I should create a new nom-de-cpap and patient number to make encore think I was a different patient. Oha nd I see that I phrased the question wrong; I don't want to combine data.

You will need to create a new patient ID number and name for the new machine SD card data.
For all Encore will know you are 2 different people. It has to be that way...just name the second profile something slightly different so you know which profile belongs to which machine.
Add a middle initial or something.

Downloading SleepyHead is still a good idea.

SleepyHead vs. Encore is like a car vs. a tricycle.
