fungal infections

Post by wirelesswatch » Tue Sep 29, 2015 6:22 pm

i was coughing up blood for a month, had a case of thrush prior to that and wound up on 3 different antibiotics 4 xrays later and now have scarring on my lungs. Reason? I was told to clean the apparatus but was not told that deathly infections can result. My Doctor? Oregon Sleep Associates. Of course nobody discusses that if you learn to play the australian instrument, the digeree doo, it can be a cure for the apnea. Should I sue my doctor for malpractice? I nearly died from the infection. Chalk it up to western medical profession whose only concern is taking in the money, selling the cpap but not offering any more information

IMHO....Getting a viral infection from your CPAP would be VERY rare...and...believing that the digeree doo is a cure for CPAP is pie in the sky. If your doctor told you that the digeree doo was a cure ...that would be malpractice. You are kidding yourself if you believe that crap.

Sounds like pneumonia to me. If you think you got sick from your CPAP machine, you're an idiot.
Sue yourself for being ignorant. You probably caught something from somebody at work or a store where you shop or somewhere else. Anything "infectious" would have been contracted other than the times you used your CPAP equipment.

So, did you actually "clean" your equipment?

Edit: "Deadly infections" from WHAT???
You mean you can infect yourself with your own germs that you live with and that inhabit your body all day and all night?
I wish I had a dollar for every clueless nitwit who thinks their CPAP equipment can be hazardous to their health.

Because it was not caused by the cpap. You caught it from somewhere / someone else. Thrush is often associated with medication, especially with asthma puffers if you don't rinse right.

The didgeridoo will only help with very mild cases and ONLY if practised every single day.

Wow. I clean my mask daily, the hose weekly and change the filter monthly. If anything, my immune system has gotten much, much stronger and where I used to get sick at the drop of a hat or less...in the three years I've been on CPAP, I've only had two colds. They only lasted a couple of days. I'd have a difficult time believing your illness came from your CPAP use...

You might get some benefit from playing didgeridoo, but you have to play it a lot, play it the right way, and even then, the benefit may be small, and only for a small percent of the people.

As for infection from CPAP, it MIGHT happen, but I suspect the chances are small, unless you're sharing your machine and mask with someone else. In order to catch a germ from the CPAP machine, it's got to get there in the first place. If your machine sits in your bedroom, the only germs in it will be the ones from you or that are already in your bedroom.

Keep it clean anyway.

You want to sue the doctor because he didn't tell you bad things could happen if you didn't clean the CPAP? If you need to be told that, well, I'll leave it at that. Good luck on your law suit. ha.

You don't get thrush from a cpap. Yeast infections can be notoriously bad - my family member just got out of ICU from one. In most cases, you get the infection either from yourself or from a family member. Invariably, to get a really bad infection, you likely have diminished immune system, for whatever reason. Yes, it's possible to reinfect yourself with thrush by not cleaning your equipment. Don't blame the doctor or center. Blame it on yourself for refusing to read the materials that came with both your machine and your new mask. Both give instructions for cleaning.

I got rid of my thrush by letting my husband chew my gum first.
It worked like a charm, but my doctor was grossed out.

That is not as gross as "fecal transplant" but probably along the same idea.
