ResMed AirFit™ P10 for Her

Post by EmilySleeps » Sat Sep 05, 2015 9:16 pm

I recently started using the ResMed AirFit™ P10 for Her (after previously using Swift FX Bella). While my initial reactions were very positive, I now have a few questions/concerns:

1) my nose, and under my nose, are quite sore in the morning
2) I generally sleep on my left side, and during the night the strap rides up on my left cheek until it is covering my eye - which obviously is uncomfortable and wakes me up
3) after waking up at night and removing the mask, I have to turn on the light to make sure I'm putting it on correctly and not upside-down (my old mask had a raised "ResMed" logo on the top so it was easy to tell by feel that it was in the right direction (as you can imagine, my husband is less than thrilled when I turn on the light!)

Any thoughts/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

How many nights have you used it?
When I used it I had sore nose the first 3 nights then it went away.
I usually sleep on my side but I don't have any issues with the strap sliding into my eye..gets kinda close sometimes but doesn't get there.

On the bottom of the pillow, the pillow size (S, M, L) is printed in an area that is smooth.

Lanolin helped with the sores on my nose. It was the perfect solution for me. I don't have the issue with the straps moving.

Lansinoh is the stuff I use to keep the pillows from irritating my nose. Truly a tiny bit does the job. It also helps me with cutting down leaks with my P10. I order mine from Amazon.
Another trick I learned here that works to keep things in place is to strategically place a ponytail in my hair and make sure it's between the two back straps.
The top of the nose pillows does have the raised letters and I have no trouble using them to make sure they're in the right direction.
Good luck to you. Getting the mask just right was a turning point for me and PAP therapy.

I had a sore nose for a bit but loosened the mask by spreading apart the straps.

The mask has a slight downward curve (like a frown) when it is on the right way. I am able to tell in the dark now but it took a bit of time.

I was thinking about this tonight. One idea I had was to tie a very short string of yarn on the right side attachment of the headgear, not too long to be obtrusive but something tactile for in the dark mask placement. Another idea is a dab of nail polish on one side of the headgear to give texture, obviously that idea would be best away from your nose. Maybe a small paperclip or something tactile to add that's not going to cause pressure or rubbing... just something I can determine left from right. I can't feel the frown or smooth size area when I'm groggy, it's pretty subtle when I'm fully awake.
