F&P Simplus full face mask leaking at swivel/ball socket

Post by breath in breath out » Tue Sep 01, 2015 3:35 pm

I am a newbie - first night my Simplus full face started out quiet as can be. Got up during the night and disconnected using swivel quick release. After I reattached the swivel/ball socket elbow seemed to be leaking. I could hear the "wind" - not loud - but not nearly as quiet as before. Tried to reconnect and reattach but still was there. I could feel it leaking and if I put my hand over the swivel/ball socket I could make it be quiet.
Is this my imagination and wanting it to be silent as it was at the start - or is something going wrong????

What you were feeling may have been the CO2 exhaust in the front of the mask....After you inhale fresh air you exhale CO2...it must leave the mask.

Upon closer inspection in daylight - it appears there are actually vents on the sides of the ball socket elbow...this is in addition to the exhaust holes at the top of the mask between the eyes.
Seemed a bit quieter the second night - but boy did I have some dreams. I heard that "excessive dreaming" was a possible side effect in the beginning- but last night was non-stop action.
