3rd-party travel bag for S9?

Post by TalonNYC » Mon Aug 31, 2015 7:00 am

Hi folks:

Long time since I posted, but my PAP'ing is still going great! Mostly due to the help of folks in these forums, so figured I'd ping the group on this question as well =)

I have the official S9 travel bag that holds the hose, power cable, S9, and humidifier. The problem is that there's not really any room for a mask in there. I could squeeze it into the section with the hose, but it really feels like it'll get crushed. With my Quattro it wasn't a problem - that thing is built like a brick outhouse. But I recently switched to the Quattro FX, and it's no where near as sturdy. I used to carry the power cables in the outside pocket, right up until I lost one because there's no zipper on that pocket.

Does anyone use a non-ResMed travel bag for their S9? Possibly a camera-bag that has the appropriate nooks and cubbies for the gear? Might be time to go lab-rat, but I wanted to see if anyone here had already gone through that and had a solution.

Thanks as always!

Hi Mike,

Have not tried that but have been thinking about doing the same. I use a Respironics APAP and the bag it came with when traveling, and with the normal gear, a 8 foot hose, and back up mask (had a mask issue once) it has gotten tight, we are talking Ball Park Franks time, very hard to close.

I would think that as long as the camera bag was not excessive in size the only thing would to be the CPAP medical equipment tag (maybe use two, one at each end since it doesn't look like a medical type bag).

Your post has spurred me on. I think I will give my beloved APAP equipment a new travel bag.

John

Some backpacks are nicely padded--unless you have other plans for the backpack.

S9 bag was plenty big enough for power supply, hose and 2 P10s on my recent RTW trip for 45 nights...

Possibly, but with the Quattro FX, the thing is so fragile I'm not all that comfortable with jamming it in with the hose and power supply. The thing comes with a plastic insert you need to use just to keep it from getting bent under normal stress, so "Flight attendant shoves someone's roller bag against it" probably isn't covered by the warranty.

The topic title made me hope for a moment that someone was fooling around with time travel.

Talon

I use the following camera bag

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000YI ... ge_o00_s00

It has a rigid back which gives loads of protection and a space to slide in a laptop or tablet. It has plenty of pockets and compartments too. All the removable padded compartments make it easy to customize for power supplies, masks etc.
It was recommended by another user here which is why i got it, I'm glad i did. The standard bags are a joke for travel.

Thanks! That's nearly the one I ordered, but I went with the shoulder-bag format, as I generally carry a backpack already.

However, if this one doesn't work, I'm going to try your suggestion next.

I got turned on to the Norazza Ape Case line of camera bags. Great padding, moveable dividers, come in tons of sizes AND are reasonably priced...I bet you could find one that works perfectly for you. I go through Amazon.com, but have also seen them for sale on eBay.

Cool, that's two I can try out if this one doesn't work (it's arriving tomorrow).

Thanks everyone!
