New Mask TOday and Question

Post by sleepwiggler » Thu Aug 27, 2015 4:31 am

I am going to get my new airfit f10 today (going from nasal to ffm). Even thought my prescription of states mask of choice I still have to go to my local DME office and get fitted, luckly they have them in stock. They are not that bright My insurance said I since I just got a new mask month that the DME had to give the contracted rate. They told me they don't know to that and it would be several days for them to figure it out. I said forget I will pay cash and file it with my insurance myself. The only reason I am doing this is so when I go to order supplies I can order them for ffm or the nasal.

I tried a ffm from a member on here but its too big and I am having a difficult time after a couple days getting it adjusted to stop the leaks, but the first several nights were awesome. I like the FFM better because there is no irritation with my mustache.

Anyway I do I have a question can talking in your sleep effect your AHI mine yesterday and this morning were 4.5 and 6.2. That is very high considering I am used to 1 or below.

I go back to sleep doctor next month and I think I am going to request another sleep study one to make sure pressure is optimum, two I have other sleep related issues. I also want a copy of my first study, I finally got my script from them yesterday so I start ordering somethings from Cpap.com.

Yes I fell like I am rambling. Thanks for the input.

I suppose talking in your sleep could affect things if opening your mouth created a mask leak... but you're now judging your numbers as being high while wearing the too-big interim mask, which probably has leaks. Wait til you get your proper size one before looking for conclusions.

Yes, talking with mask on can cause leaks. I used to wear SCBA mask and had to do a test every year for fitment, one of the tests was to talk while wearing, lot of times the mask had to be adjusted because of leaks...
