White fine filter?
Shiny goes "in" and fuzzy/fabric side is "out".

Thank you. Never had to use filter for anything before. I may have put it backwards a few weeks ago. Is that bad.

Think how a filter works. First you want to trap bigger stuff and then the smallest. Otherwise the big stuff plugs up the filter and messes it up for removing very small (fine) particles. So the coarse side goes towards where the air comes into the machine. The shiny side has very very tiny holes that you can't see but will trap pollen and the very small particles in the air. Some members also use a very very fine HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) supplementary filter that goes in line between where the air comes out of your machine and the hose that carries the air to your nose. You can search our site on that topic.

You also asked if having the filter in backwards is a problem - most likely no unless you have been doing it backwards for 20 years

Fuzzy side out! Shiny side inwards. You don't want any loose fibers going into the air impeller or in your lungs. The plastic shiny coating binds the loose fibers so they can't get blown into your lungs or the machine.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
