Equivalent settings bewteen Resmed S9 and REMstar 450P?

Post by Guest » Tue Aug 25, 2015 4:36 pm

Greetings!

I have been using my REMstar Pro - PR System One (450P) with great success for about three years. I now split my time between two cities, so a couple of weeks ago I bought a Resmed S9 Autoset to use in the second location. Both have humidifiers.

I've learned that the two models work very differently, and in practical use, that they "feel" differently. Yes, I know... I should have bought an identical 450P instead of an S9, but I thought that the S9 would be an upgrade.

My question is: What are the equivalent settings on the Resmed S9, based on my REMstar 450P settings below? The S9 has many more modes, more options, and also the EPR settings, and I'd like to choose the correct ones that will make the S9 "feel" as close to my 450P as possible.

REMstar Settings
Mode: CPAP
Pressure: 10 cmH20
Flex Type: C-Flex+
C-Flex is set to 2
SYSTEM One Resistance: 0

What settings should I use on my S9 to achieve a "feel" that is closest to my REMstar?

I have benefitted greatly from the generosity of the members of this forum - and I thank you for sharing your experiences.

mode cpap, pressure 10, epr 1, mask and tube type set as applicable.

of course, the autoset is more feature rich than the 450.

I agree.
But, you may also want to try turning off the EPR and go "straight" pressure.
I used C-Flex at a setting of "2" for many years and then turned it off a few years ago and wondered why I hadn't done it sooner.

Thanks for the rapid and helpful responses.

Den, may I ask why you chose to disable the C-Flex+ function?

How did it change your experience with the System ONE?

Thanks again.

Actually, I experimented with NOT using C-Flex while taking some naps, for a number of months before I ended up shutting it off entirely on 04/01/13. I really didn't notice much difference and found my "numbers" got a little better by not using it.
I've never used any machines other than my "Legacy" Autos and Pro 2s......which are about 8 - 10 years old at this point.
What I have was "state-of-the-art" when I started and I never saw another generation of machines that I thought I would like better. Upgrading equipment would also have meant a different software version of Encore Pro and not being able to use "MyEncore" which I've used since I started therapy. It's an add-in program that can do quite a few summaries and graphs on the various data details from the Encore Pro database.
