Forum Administrators- Do your JOB,

Post by Cardsfan » Fri Jul 31, 2015 6:02 am

Obviously this forum is a way to promote your business, https://www.cpap.com . Since finding this forum, I have ordered many of my cpap supplies from your business. But my orders will stop until you take action.
I understand you can not read every post on here. But I do expect you to notice when a member has been bullied for MONTHS. You have done nothing to prevent, or discourage the abuse of the forum rules.
If you allow your customers to be mistreated by other forum members, then you do not deserve my business.

It is time for the Forum Administrators to put an end to the bullying and get rid of the people who can not follow the rules of conduct.

Thank you.

Just out of curiosity, who, exactly, do you think has been bullied for months?

I have no intention of naming names. I have sent a PM to the administrator with the name of the person being abused, I want it to be clear to them.
I do not want to embarrass anyone by calling them out.

I hope other customers of our host feel the same way and show their support. Businesses take notice when it impacts their bottom line.
Thank you.

Worry about your own posts. The person being abused can look out for themselves. I don't think they need another mother. You have been on this board for 3 months...You know little about those that have been members for many years. You should change your avatar name to "busybody"

Genius idea. Name the bullied, not the bullier.

Howdy Cardsfan,

Thanks very much for your business and past support.

I received a PM last week along the same lines. I'll share my reply to it with you and CPAPtalk now.
Howdy,

I don't think you really want me to do what you ask. It assumes I can use a heavy hand to "fix it". I can't. It'll be more broken and less free.

The only way to win here is to be vigilant and have better ideas.

I think CPAPtalk waxes and wanes. I've watched with great displeasure at some comments, but I've also seem strong rebuttals. Good has always won in the past and it'll win here in time.

My job is to keep it free. Your job is to make sure good triumphs in message and spirit.

In conclusion and respectfully, no, I won't change the shape of CPAPtalk just because we're having a bad month. They don't get to have that impact on us.

You apparently have not seen the owners posts in the past about the forum and his goals on how he wants to keep this pretty much without lots of rules and keep it open. If you had, you would not have posted this message on the forum.

As a person with lots of sales experience, a bit of a suggestion, A sales threat would normally be sent to sales, not some secondary part of the business. They are one and the same here, but in many businesses there are completely different parts of the business.

The response I expected from a truly open forum. It is quite unusual but makes it special at the same time.

This forum format is certainly not for everyone but then there are more structured related topic boards out there which people are dissatisfied can participate with if more structure is needed.

In response to the administrator comments- You obviously do not enforce your own User Agreement. The link to it is at the bottom of this page. You should at least amend it to include:

We tolerate abusive behavior towards all members.
We tolerate profanity.
We do not value your business.
We do not take legitimate complints seriously. Even complints that have been duplicated by other members.

Cardsfan, this is the way this forum has always been and probably always will be. This topic has come up many times over the years I’ve been a member. I prefer a slightly more moderated forum because you wouldn’t believe over the years how often this situation happens that you’ve described. SOME people believe their opinion is the only one that counts and they can be extremely sarcastic and uncaring when someone dares to disagree. That’s something I don’t like either, so I chose, for the most part, to stay away. I drop by occasionally just to see what’s new in this medical malady we all have to deal with, which is why I’m here today.

Bottom line is the people who provide this forum have the final say in how it’s run. The majority of the forum members like it the way it is. Therefore, nothing will change. Sorry to be blunt, but for those that don’t like it, we either need to learn to ignore it or leave. One thing that helps is to stay away from any threads that are not xpap related. That doesn’t solve it altogether, but it helps.

I buy all my cpap supplies from the hosts of this forum and will continue to do so because of the great service and decent prices. I also learned a lot here on the forum and probably will continue to do so.

Cardsfan stop there........ I am sure that you have received lots of help from this forum since you joined, so now you are going to take your football and go home because you don't like the heat in the kitchen. We have had MANY posters/spammers on this forum over the years and we tend to take it or leave it, you can read on or not that is your choice. You can also threaten cpap.com all you like but do you really think that your business is making this company viable..... NOT. Cpap.com have offered this site to ALL of us to deal with problems we have with cpap therapy and yes, we buy our supplies and equipment from them at the same time. YOU have a choice ... take the good with the bad to either read the threads that interest you or not............ believe me Enchanters posts are nowhere near the crap we have had to put up with over the years, there have been some doozies. With respect to Enchanters threads, when something goes sideways as this has, you can read on or not....CHOICE. Some of us believe that IF Enchanter is for real.. he has MANY problems that cannot be helped by the good folks here, or he is a spammer just trying to get everyone on the defensive.
Threatening Jonny and Carolyn to not buy from them isn't the adult solution to your frustration...... its again choice, don't read on, just turn off your computer and go about your own business. Your threats and words to posters you do not agree with will only frustrate you more..... after all this is the internet... do you believe everything you read on the internet.... is Enchanter real or is he not
Take a big breath and take your football home with you if that is your choice.
Cheers
Nan

Very well said. Blunt, but that's how it goes on THIS forum. It is what it is and those that don't like it can, as you say, take their football and go home.

This is all really simple. In school, at work, and other place where someone has a right or requirement to go, some people need protection. In a forum on the internet no one has a right to be anyplace, there are other forums and place for them to go and I wish them well. How this forum works is pretty well known and it has a right with free speech to be as it is. I am sorry if you don't agree and if it bothers you please just don't read it. I personally chose to ignore threads like that just because IMHO they are useless. I have never seen anyone win an argument on the internet about anything.

Relax, you have the same options as the person you are trying to protect: stay, leave, read, don't read. The person you are talking about is an adult and this is not their social world, nor is it a psychology forum.
