apnea events have increased with treatment
apnea events have increased with treatment
I have been using Resmed Air Curve 10 with full face mask for about 6 monthes. My events have increased from 19 before therapy to 35 - 40 since. I had some air leak issues at first, but those are all resolved, and my numbers continue to increase. I find it interesting that when I have a night of significant air leaks, my # of events is much lower. Has anyone else had this problem? My Dr seems to be stumped.
Re: apnea events have increased with treatment
With large leaks the machine's sensors start to become less reliable and it probably is reporting lower numbers because the leaks are hindering the sensors from being able to do their job...sense and report.
Which AirCurve 10 machine are you using?
What is the event category breakdown of that AHI that is worse instead of better?

What kind of events are you having? Can you break down the OA, H and CA a bit?
How much time are you in large leak? What is your average leak?

Re: apnea events have increased with treatment
I am using Deemed AirCurve S. For the past 6 days I have had no leaks, and my events have increased from mid 20s to mid 40s . I do not know what kind of events . How do I find that info? Before treatment I had 19.

You will need to use the software available to be able to see the exact event category breakdown but this
So it means that the bulk of the AHI is either OA or hyponea and that usually happens when the pressure settings aren't preventing the airway collapse like they should be doing....settings aren't optimal and aren't doing a good job.
What are your pressure settings?
How did they come up with the pressure settings that you are using? Did you have a titration sleep study where you were in the sleep lab and they hooked you up to mask and machine?
You can use either SleepyHead (Windows and Mac versions available) software (though it is a bit iffy in some aspects with the AirCurve machines) or ResScan software (Windows only though) to see what is going on in terms of leak maybe affecting the therapy and any clustering of events.
If you had big leak numbers with low AHI...and now with no leak to speak of and high AHI...all that tells me is that when you were in big leak territory it was so bad the machine couldn't figure out what was going on and that low AHI is meaningless because it likely isn't accurate.
Your pressure settings are likely sub optimal...and that usually means the EPAP pressure (exhale) is too low.

if you want ResScan (Windows only though) send me a private message.
This shows what ResScan will show.

tells me that it isn't central which was a concern that I had.gopat wrote:Central AI 0.8

That would be the fixed bilevel model.gopat wrote:AirCurve S
