Something similar to sleepyhead for blood pressure?

Post by FlyingMoose » Tue Jul 28, 2015 11:16 am

I want to get an ambulatory blood pressure monitor (which automatically takes a reading every so often at a preset time) and uploads to a computer over bluetooth.

All of the ones I have found come with windows-only software. Does anyone know of a program similar to Sleephead that can import and use the information from this type of machine? Or perhaps it's possible to access the raw data over bluetooth somehow (like how you can read the raw data files off of a CPAP SD card)?

Also it has USB. Does this mean it would show up as a drive with the raw data files on it?

Since it is made by the same folks who make the CMS50 series pulse oximeters, there is some chance that the download codes to start the download are the same. Then it would be a matter of taking apart the format of the data and importing into a format that Excel could use to get the reports.

All pretty iffy though.

What I think I'll do is use either VirtualBox, Parallels, or VMWare to run the software on my Mac. Thanks for the advice.

BTW, I use the OmRon 791IT recording blood pressure machine, It does not automatically record every 15 or 30 minutes like the Contec does but it cost less than one third as much. For me, because I wake so frequently at night and can trigger a reading manually, this difference is not as important. Last night, I got 17 readings bed at 11:00pm up at 6:00am - most nights the number would be more like 8 or 9. In either case, enough data to look at trends.

I notice that Contec also makes a 3 lead recording Holter monitor for about $200 or so and a 12 lead one for about $400.
