Oral System Biology (Oral Systemic Balance)

Post by ada » Sun Jul 26, 2015 12:30 pm

I have found information, interviews, and mention of this oral appliance system on here and various other places. I have been researching it for a while. However, I am looking specifically for people who have been treated by it. So I am looking ONLY for patients (rather then those who know of.. or provide the treatment). Has anyone actually gone through the process.... or know someone who has (who would be willing to join this discussion.) I believe I have read most of what can be found on the internet. Is there someone out there with personal experience (instead of abstract opinions or references about it)? Thank you.

Have you been able to determine the difference between an OSB appliance and the more traditional mandibular advancement devices (MADs) such as the Thornton Adjustable Positioner (TAP)? (See footnote.)

Gramps did some short research on this some years back. He came to nothing conclusive, but suspects the OSB works very much like a traditional MAD and has a lot of marketing "woo" thrown in. An OSB also seems to be about ten times the cost of a traditional MAD.

I did a fairly extensive search of this forum and can find some speculations about OSB, but no one who has used one and not even anyone who knows someone who has used one.

*Footnote
Two most popular MADs
- SomnoDent Fusion http://somnomed.com/dentists/somnodent- ... nt-fusion/

- TAP III Elite http://tapintosleep.com/breathing-devic ... ap-custom/

Ada, I have used the OSB appliances for 4 1/2 years. I went to Tacoma, WA to see Dr Robson. The first several months I started improving & after that I was well. You do have to return around every 6 months or so for adjustments. I was diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome in 2001 and started treatment with him in Sept 2010. I had severe fatigue, anxiety and depression. I was due back in April of 2014 & waited until Dec 2014 which was 15 months since my last visit, I thought I am not bad & didn't want to spend the money. What a mistake, he had the applianes working at that time but when I returned home they didn't function as well so going back this month on the 14 th & staying the full week to make sure they settle OK.
They worked for me the office is like a mini hospital they even use a heart ultrasound to guide him with the adjustments. It is amazing. Wish I could talk to you or email you.

The posters you are responding to are long gone.

Here is a link for finding an OSB dentist that you can ask regarding cost.

Watching the video, the device looks like a very complicated oversized mouthguard... Wonder how comfortable that would be

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
