Re: Saw the Neurologist today

Lsat my husband's machine is an aircurve 10 asv with pressure set at 9. Last night he had a ahi of 0.12 but the last 9 days it's been zero. I've read through the sleepheadreports myself every day and he is consistent there are times u can see he is starting and the machine kicks in but those stay a...

Re: Saw the Neurologist today

The CAs may not be CAs. At least, my machine records as CAs any time my breathing pauses long enough, even though the vast majority of the CAs are while I'm actually awake. When I deduct those, I have almost no CAs. If the AHI is now zero, and the CAs are recorded during awake time, the doctor may b...

Re: My story; something I learned

I've read that this keeps the jaw closed but not necessarily the lips, which is where the leakage occurs. I guess the thinking is that closing the jaw at least increases the likelihood that the lips are also closed. Thoughts? You're right on both accounts. That's one reason some people tape their m...

Re: Frustrated...unsure where to go what to do!

Dawn: Your situation is very similar to mine. Anxiety, depression and insomnia starting about a year ago. I took trazadone for awhile, and it worked well, but it lost some of its effectiveness after about a month. Switched mirtazapine, which helped me sleep, but didn't feel more rested, and weight g...

Re: Flow limit

Dig deep into the side effects for your meds especially the Paxil and BP meds and Klonopin. If you are taking Provigil (remember it isn't totally out of your system by bedtime) then I assume you are having excessive daytime sleepiness and/or maybe fatigue. Paxil is known to cause excessive fatigue ...

Re: Flow limit

This is from last night. That FL graph isn't very active at all. I don't think it warrants trying to reduce the activity and I seriously doubt that FLs are the culprit for your not feeling so great. The cluster of events in the middle of the night go along with the break in therapy where the machin...

not feeling much better, either, despite the low AHI and getting 7 hours or so of sleep. If you were feeling good then we might not worry about the FLs but since you aren't feeling the good numbers you might want to consider trying to reduce the FLs just to see if it makes a difference or not. It m...

Do you have any nasal congestion issues that might account for the flow limitations?
Not much nasal congestion, not feeling much better, either, despite the low AHI and getting 7 hours or so of sleep.

I use the same mask and had leakage issues until I used the chin strap. I found that the strap didn't eve have to be really tight.

Flow limit

A question I have is regarding flow limit data. Mine is below .20 95% of the time. It might spike to .30-.55 once or twice per night. Is there anythng to be concerned about with those numbers? My AHI is now in the 1-3 range consistently.

Re: A couple of thoughts after 4 weeks on APAP

I agree with Sheffey on targeting your limb movement issue. Limb movements can make you still feel like crap even when CPAP treatment is successful. Here's my thoughts on some of the meds people try for limb movements. Is the intent of the med to help you sleep through the movements or to stop the ...

I also take Paxil What do you think about trying to taper off with the help of the prescribing doctor? I've read cases where doctors prescribed SSRIs when all was wrong with the patient was untreated sleep apnea. I only take 20 mg. of Paxil. I tapered off a year ago, was OK for awhile, and then was...

Re: A couple of thoughts after 4 weeks on APAP

Your leg movements (PLMD) may be bothering your sleep much more than you think. I would work on that since your CPAP therapy seems to be going well. My doctor considers PLMD to be the same as RLS. PLMD is RLS that happens while sleeping. First, have you had your serum ferritin levels checked? For R...

Re: Klonopin withdrawl

I've been taking .25mg for a week or so for leg movements and sleep. I'm going to try to skip a day now and then, maybe take half a dose at times, in order to avoid dependence. .25 mg seems to work for sleep. I have no idea about the leg movements because I'm asleep and unaware of them. Good luck wi...
