tedburnsIII is attempting to discourage new members

Post by Sonnyboy » Sun Jul 05, 2015 7:27 am

tedburnsIII post early this morning on the "Where A CPAP Newbie Should Start" thread is directed towards discouraging new members.
This guy is a real jerk. Can this post be deleted?

Thank you

Probably not a good idea, though for once it's hard to disagree with the spirit of his note - the OP was not at all forthcoming with useful info to help him with.

Hi Julie,

Thank you for your response.

Just shows how different people can arrive at different interpretations.

Ted was not responding to a recent post so to me he seemed to be responding to: "Where A CPAP Newbie Should Start".
Nothing about the spirit of his note was welcoming, positive, productive, or useful.

Don't worry about Ted, he said he was leaving.

I remember several posts where he said he was leaving....still here and still wasting everyone's time. He's a definite foe list candidate.

more tedburnsIII posts:

Julie-

You obviously don't respect the Rules here. So why have them in the first place?

As for me, I've got enough info from this miserable place (many people here are just too nasty) to bid 'adieu' in the sense that my posts and participation will be minimal.

PR, no need to respond. I anticipate the unnecessary and childish comment before you have even made it.

GOOD-BYE

A preferred member is someone who has posted to the forum. Something like 20 posts (don't recall since most participants are at that "rating"). It is common rating over New Member which a brand new member is tagged with.

He is not an Advisory Member though. That has a higher set of requirements and I think the "Apnea Board" votes on those people from time to time.

but not sure why you mentioned it since you like him are saying goodbye.

I made the comment in direct response to that post above mine.

If you can't see why I make such a forceful comment try using your brain.

Thank you, Julie, for using your brain and understanding why I made such a comment.

tedburnsIII,
The post you responded to this morning in the "Where A CPAP Newbie Should Start" section was over one month old and it is the first and only post this person has ever made.
No first time poster identifying a CPAP problem deserves a forceful negative response.
You were out of line this morning and you are out of line now.

Interestingly, the posts Julie and I wrote in response to his have disappeared. Could have been a total coincidence so I just sent a PM to Carolyn asking her to investigate.

I've talked to ted burns numerous times in chat and have been respectful of his opinion and desire to "spread the word" about his feelings about this forum. I do NOT agree with him and have told him so.

I saw both posts in the thread. The last one in the thread by ted is gone, but I DID see it. Based on the previous post of his, he is a serious hypocrite. He feels that forum members bully and gang up on new posters, yet his post was exactly that -- mean and bullying.

Ted, I tried to be considerate of you even though I strongly disagree with your need to warn off people about this forum. But one thing I hate more than anything is a hypocrite.

If you feel forum members are mean, bullying and have a gang like mentality, then you should be NICE to people. And your post was NOT nice at all.

This "do as I say, not as I do" crap doesn't fly with me. If you ain't gonna live it, don't bitch about it.

I don't delete posts but I admit I was hoping Carolyn would come along and delete it.

Interestingly Ted edited his own post last night at 11:34 so now his post is specifically addressed to the poster above his post ---- better, but not great.

Take a look at how Chunkyfrog responded--welcoming, informative, useful, positive which is the way to respond to new members just getting started and submitting their first post.
