Help reading sleepyhead & please advise

Post by suziwoozi » Mon Jun 29, 2015 7:41 pm

Hi - Although I've been in a love/hate relationship with my Cpap for a couple of years now this is my first plea for help. Reading the posts for the past year, I see a lot of folks have benefited from the seasoned and successful users. I have to confess, as I did to my Dr. about a month ago, that I've been fiddling with the pressure setting on my S9 Auto. She suspected that I had it up to high causing more central apneas. I had read the same thing on a post here, so I [img]
[/img]smiled inside when she that. She told me to set it back to 7 maximum ( well, by time I got back home, I couldn't remember if she said 7 or 8 so it's set at 7.4 or 7.5.) Anyway, I have an appointment with my Dr. to look at my SD card, however, it's not until June 23 so I'm hoping I can get some advice here. I've read a lot of posts and learned a lot, however, even on my best day, I'd have a hard time understanding what the heck is going wrong with my breathing (or lack thereof) at night. Thank you in advance for any help you can give me. Now I am going to see if I can follow Pugsy's great instructions for inserting a URL of one of my longest stretches of sleep.
I've probably tried 6-7 different types of masks in the last 2 years.

I'm reposting the graph with the hopes that the larger size will be easier to view. Thanks again for your time. Please give me any suggestions on how to or not to post, I don't want to be annoying.

I'm on my phone, and I don't know how to easily find the help you are looking for. Knowledgeable help will be along shortly.
I don't see how you can ever be annoying.
Look around a little and you will see our really annoying members.
Good luck, Earl

Hi Palerider,
Thanks for the suggestion, I read and followed the instructions for organizing graphs. Using F12 for the screenshot isn't working for me, in fact, I don't even remember how I was able to post the screenshot of the graphs earlier tonight! Sad but true. I must try for some sleep so I can function at work tomorrow. Thanks again and I'll read and learn more on how to post a screenshot of Sleepyhead graphs later, I'll get it eventually LOL .

you're doing pretty well, get rid of the ahi graph, it's useless... and make the pressure graph bigger, in it's place.

we'll talk about raising your pressure soon.

that's a good bit more informative, we can see what the pressure is trying to do during the night, when you're having problems.

your leak rate is good, but that's pretty easy with the low pressures you have.

the first thing I'd suggest is turning down your epr, it's reducing your base pressure to 4 for much of the night. and that's not enough to keep your airway open. and, if it were me, I'd also raise the max pressure 1 or 2 cm, and give the machine more of a chance to stop the obstructives.

I am going to turn down the epr and increase the pressure by 1 cm as you suggested. Thank you for your patience and teaching me how to post the graphs properly. I really appreciate your time and experience. I have new hope that it is possible for me to know what it's like to get a good sleep! Thank you!

Hi Palerider - Would you mind looking at t a screenshot of my graphs from last night? I made the changes you suggested. The numbers still are not great, however, I felt more rested this morning than I have in a very long time. Thanks again for your time.

that's quite the improvement... there's still room for improvement, if we can get the OA down without the CA going up, that'd be great.

I'd suggest raising the minimum pressure, maybe to 6 or 7... and increasing the max a bit more... see if that helps.

it might be worth switching to CPAP mode until CA and OA events are reduced. And getting rid of that silly mask.
