intellipap humidifier questions

Post by zonker » Sat Jun 27, 2015 6:45 pm

hello gentle beings!

i have two questions about my humidifier. how can i be sure it's working? i've been using it for three nights and the water level hasn't dropped. i have the heater level at 5. is there something more i need do?

secondly, i cleaned it today and notice the cleaning instructions mention the gasket. i have no gasket in the chamber. should there be one?

thank you in advance....

Hi - if the level hasn't dropped, is it possible that where you live is quite humid now? The humidifier is unlikely to do much if it's not needed, and I wonder why you have it set on 5 - a bit extreme unless you're in Colo. or AZ. I'm not sure about a gasket either because I so rarely use my hum. anyhow, and have only cleaned it a couple of times - my biggest problem was getting the top and bottom back together properly - I thought it was fine, but water came out and I had to fiddle a couple of times to get it done properly. Isn't there some kind of picture in the manual that points out diff. parts?

If were you live there happens to be a good bit of humidity in the air already then the machine won't need to put much moisture into the air so not much water will be used. Last night we had rain and had it pretty much all day and I have my humidifier set for maximum and I barely used any water. The ambient humidity was already pretty high.
Now tonight it is cooler and dryer and I bet I use more water.

Is there some forum rule that says duplicate information posting is prohibited?
If so, people are doing it all over the place to you (saying what you just said) and to me as well.

Oh Pugsy, of course not, but it just seems that whenever I post something it feels almost as if I hadn't, because the next note down (or so) just repeats what I've said, only in a longer form. What can I say - it's subjective, isn't it? It's just odd that I'm not aware of it to such an extent with other posters.

It happens to me all the time too, but sometimes I've felt a pattern, or wouldn't have said anything. As I said, it's subjective, but the one thing I'm sure of is that I've never even thought you were doing it to bug me - so, so not the case, though I might - might - have on 1-2 occasions wondered that it seems so important to you to cover bases yourself as if you'd just thought them up... there have been many instances where I've purposely said nothing, not wanting to get into it and not seeing it as the point of this forum, nor important to other people reading notes. I know I'm not in competition for anything, but once in a while it seemed as if you might be. Not saying that how it is, but just an observation. And as I said, the issue has not ever come up with others.

I made that little comment (with the smiley) because it seemed such a direct do-over of what I'd said, though you added other things as well... but I don't see it as you're deliberately bugging, just maybe not seeing what I'd said... not a big deal... you didn't have to acknowledge it after all... am I not allowed now to express myself (and didn't in fact name you in the end)?

it really does happen all the time, I do it to pugsy too, and others.

I don't view it as detracting from what you, or any other original person says, but just the opposite...

it reinforces, and supports what the original person said.

someone asks a question.

one person says "blah blah blah".

well, that's one voice, and the person asking may doubt it.., however, if someone else says "yeah, that's right" and another couple chime in and say 'yeah, and also, this and that', then it gives the original questioner more confidence, and possibly more information.

thanks for your response, julie! i'm afraid that i wouldn't know very humid from not so humid. but i have a thermometer that has a humidity read out as well. it shows around 33% overnight. so i don't know which that is, high or low.

when i'd posted my problem of air escaping from my mouth, some one suggested i turn up my humidifier. now, i'm not saying that this is what helped, but since doing that, i've greatly decreased the amount of air coming out of my mouth. so much so that for the last 3 nights, i've kept my mask on all night! yay!!

erm, yeah....i do have a manual, i just wasn't looking closely enough. it indicates i have one. so i'll contact cpap.com tomorrow and see if they will send me one!

i was just trying to figure out if i was using it correctly is all. with my luck, i thought i was missing something obvious. you know, like pictures in my manual showing me the gasket?

i'm sorry that this indirectly leading to "words" between you and julie....
