Sleepyhead question
Sleepyhead question
Actually got 3.08 hours in a row pretty much a record for me! I think it is a record for my first month on CPAP.
I still don't understand everything but I think the numbers look good?
AHI a little higher but I got more than 3 hours in a row again and I only got up once during the night, that is a huge deal!
Does the smell from the mask ever go away? It isn't only when I am wearing it, it stays with me all day it is with me every time I breathe in.

Re: Good night for me
Thanks for responding! Progress is good and I go back and forth; my sleep has never been good and any time I can get more than 2 hours of sleep in a row I am excited. That was one of my hopes with CPAP was that I would get more continuous sleep and that is still my goal. Slow and steady wins the race!kteague wrote:Progress feels good, doesn't it?! Re: Good night for me
Congratulations. It's the small battles that we win that eventually let us win the war.
A newbie once wrote something that sort of stuck to me....it's not about perfection...it's about progression.
It would be so wonderful if all our sleep/energy/crappy feelings could so easily be erased by just a few little good AHI numbers but unfortunately most of the time we have more than just this OSA stuff going on.
When I first started therapy I didn't even have my pressures optimized until 3 weeks in. Back then software wasn't so freely available and we had to have those special card readers too. Even once I got things dialed in and at least the nocturia and killer headaches stopped I still was having trouble sleeping for any solid blocks of time. Just had other issues going on plus I think I also had some "habit" issues going on too. We pick a problem and work on it and some of those problems just take a lot more work than others.
Funny thing now though...sometimes I still have an ugly night on paper but it doesn't seem to affect how I feel as long as I get a decent amount of hours of sleep. I have had some really perfect "numbers" in terms of leak and AHI but have had short hours of sleep (I need at least 7 to feel my best) and I feel like my worst pre cpap days.
And I have slept 7 or 8 hours of what I thought was really good sleep and feel good and go look at the data and my AHI is butt ugly. Surprised the heck out of me but for me now it's hours of sleep that is my main factor in how I feel.
It took me lots of work and lots of time and some help from my doc to get my hours of sleep and sleep fragmentation under control. Fixing the OSA was easy...took about 4 nights after I got my software so I could see exactly what was going on...couple little tweaks in pressure and I was set to go.
Now fixing the bad sleep that wasn't caused by sleep apnea took a lot longer and took a lot more more.
It not yet perfect but most nights its good.
Keep working at it. It will get better but it may just take some time and while you are taking the time (like you have a choice) do explore anything that you think might help or hurt your sleep quality and try to work on it..
Fixing OSA is easy compared to fixing bad sleep that isn't caused by OSA and there's a ton of reasons out there for bad sleep that are unrelated to OSA.
I still have some bad nights but I have a lot more good nights now in terms of sleep quality/hours of sleep/with minimal wake ups. I always wake up a handful of times....at least now I don't have to count the wake ups on both hands and feet and sometimes need another pair of hands.

Does the smell from the mask ever go away? It isn't only when I am wearing it, it stays with me all day it is with me every time I breathe in.
It is starting to be a pattern that I am only getting up once during the night
I got 3:55 in a row last night pretty much a record for me without being passed out from drinking which I haven't done in over five years!
I still don't notice any difference in how I feel during the day but I am definitely noticing a difference in how I sleep.

Re: Another Good night for me + a ?
Pur-Sleep and Snuggle Scents have fragrances that help with unwanted smells from cpap equipment.
A little on a cotton ball set back away from the machine introduces that hint of scent that makes all the plastic smell go away. I also like a Yankee candle votive (unlit) in sage and citrus scent. It lasts months.

New question:
Sleepyhead is now showing Cheyenne Stokes on my reports which they haven't done before which confuses me, can I assume that is nothing to be concerned about? It was a high AHI for me last night but good leak rate! I increased my pressure from 12.6 to 14 and it appears it needed to be increased.

I wouldn't be overly concerned with a little here and there. you could post a shot that shows it zoomed into just that period though.

I don't know how to do that, I am pretty dense when it comes to computers. Took me awhile to figure out how to post the sleepyhead shots and just get them down to the four main things you all like to see.

click on the left side of the area to zoom, drag to the left side of it, or vice versa, let go of the mouse,
alternatively, you can zoom in and out with the up and down arrow buttons, and move left and right with those arrow keys.
