Re: Equipment, Headgear and mask experiences

I went through 9-10 masks before finding the right one for me. With a small face it is especially difficult to find something that will fit. Nasal pillows tend to make me feel like I am suffocating, nasal masks have to be just right or they cause pressure sores, and FFMs tend to be a problem because...

Re: Losing hope... no mask is for me?

I do have the small Dreamwear frame and small cushions, and I tried the tubing padding. I had the same experience that liners always give me worse leaks. I think medium leaked more but I couldn't breathe as well with the small, and that was more important. I may try the lanolin, but my sores are de...

Re: Losing hope... no mask is for me?

You had the small dreamwear frame with small and medium cushions, not the medium frame with small and medium cushions? That is what made the difference for me - the medium frame tended to slip and I couldn't keep a good seal. It did help a little when I added the frame cushions that came with it (ju...

Re: Losing hope... no mask is for me?

I'm a bit late here but thought I'd throw in my $.02 since I seem to have had some similar problems to what you mentioned. I couldn't find a mask that fit and the DME's were throwing up their hands. I have used nasal pillows and can use them sometimes but not reliably. I was able to use the AirFit P...

Re: American Home Patient & Cigna - no prices?

More absurdities about how the insurance companies actually pay out more than they should because their policies serve to screw them: 1) I was prescribed a medication that the formulary required I try a different med first. We had tried that previously and it didn't work but still had to go through ...

Re: CPAP and Carry On Travel

Curems--the travel sized ones I've seen aren't too expensive and I'd buy one as a secondary machine. Cardsfan--thanks, I haven't gotten the machine yet so I was going by the specs given online. Since distilled water is not easy to find everywhere outside the U.S., I planned to leave the humidifier ...

Re: Semi-obvious travel tips

I like putting my equipment in large Ziploc bags. That way if they get removed during security checks they are better protected. I had heard this before and I believe it may be one of the recent changes that cpaps have to be removed from the case now (from the TSA site: "A nebulizer, CPAP, BiPAP an...

Re: CPAP and Carry On Travel

This may be totally irrelevant to your circumstance but my machine is covered by my insurance so I have to demonstrate compliance. I had thought about getting a smaller machine for travel but felt it just wasn't worth it for me (I do have good insurance coverage and appreciate that fact so I don't m...

Re: Dry Mouth

I'm not a mouth breather but tried FFMs because of fitting problems with masks. I get terrible dry mouth only when I use a FFM. I tried Xylimelts and they did help some.

Re: Neti pot question

It did seem odd to me that I had been prescribed saline spray for moisture but the neti rinse was also salt and seemed to dry out my nose. The salinity of both products is designed to approximate the salinity of mucus and mucus membranes. So they should not cause drying. I do have some Ayr Nasal Ge...

Re: Neti pot question

I have used a neti nose rinse for a couple years now. I use the squeeze bottle with the saline mix that comes in the packs. I warm up the water to just a tad bit over room temp. I have significant issues with my sinuses and septum. Using the squeeze bottle forces the fluid through and cleans and ri...

Re: Neti pot question

Most of the saline sprays have the same salt content as a properly mixed neti rinse. So no harm to add a saline spray, but probably not much benefit either. Maybe look for a nasal lubricant for the dryness. I will look to see what good lubricant I used in the past. It did seem odd to me that I had ...

Re: New, please forgive question

I'm not familiar with this machine and my experience may be totally irrelevant but an example from my PR machine - I've had a couple of nights where I started my machine and then had to stop it within 15 minutes. My machine has wifi and uploads my data to DreamMapper but it uploads at odd times. It ...
