F&P Simplus Full Face question

Post by Roboski » Thu May 28, 2015 11:13 am

Hi everyone. I think I posted about this before but maybe not. I am having a problem with my Simplus in that water vapor from the humidifier seems to build up and partially clog my mask's exhaust holes, which is causing an occasional high-pitched squealing sound. It's definitely not a mask leak. Comparing the exhaust holes against the Quattro FX, they seem smaller. So maybe that's a design flaw?. But, here (finally) is my question: I am using a humidifier AND a heated hose, and I have been playing around with the heat settings on each. I know this water vapor is condensation, but humidified air is by its very nature moist, and I am wondering if my only option is to crank the humidifier temperature low (1), and the tube setting up (5). Would that make a difference? I like the Simplus but this problem is getting annoying. I am about ready to drill bigger holes in this mask. Thanks for any and all advice as usual.

Since humidity levels are relative to the temperature, try reducing the humidity level. You can then increase the hose temperature to further reduce the relative humidity and rainout problems.

I've been using the Simplus since it first came out and I have not had a similar problem. I run fairly high humidity since it is basically a dry climate where I live, I end up using a complete full tub of water per eight hours of sleep (380 ml) so I run quite a bit of moisture thought my hose and mask with no rainout or mask issues like you have reported. (I do use the heated hose option)

You might have to reduce humidity, and, or raise hose temp to solve the issue. In addition I am using the Pad-A-Cheek mask liner for the Simplus and maybe that is helping with the issue as the cloth will absorb a little of the humidity..........don't really know, but I wouldn't say the Simplus has a design problem, you are the first that I have heard with this issue.
