New here

Hi all I am new here. Please go easy on me lol. I just got diagnosed and have been using my CPAP for a month now and am feeling much better. I do have a humidifier with my machine but i still wake up so thirsty that i down a full glass of water in 5 seconds and beg for more. Any helpful tips on how to stop the dry mouth deserts from happening????

Welcome. We don't go easy on anybody here. Being rough is how we show community affection collectively to all new ones. We try not to punch, but we do often throw paper and make childish faces and mess up hair electronically over the Internet just for fun.

Have you tried turning up the humidity adjustment on the machine? Are you still using the full face mask or do you sometimes use a nasal mask?

Dry mouth is a slightly different issue from dehydration/thirst, even though they can feel the same. If dry mouth, then humidity should help a lot. If actual thirst is involved (and CPAP does change how your body processes water in some ways), drink to the point of clear urine for several days if you can do so safely. A lot of people go around borderline dehydrated much of their lives without knowing it, it seems.

Welcome to the forum!
A dry mouth can occur even with a full face mask (FFM) from an open mouth. Several members have reported that they have to use a chinstrap with their FFM. There is a condition, called rainout, that is caused by condensation forming in the hose/mask area from too much humidity. If this occurs, I'd highly recommend a ClimateLine heated hose for your AS10. This hose will allow for increased humidity without causing rainout.

I didnt like the nasal mask because it rubbed the inside of my nose. I also sometimes sleep with my mouth open so I chose the full face mask and have been using that. I have not tried adjusting the humidity level on my machine because I thought I might get in trouble for that. The techs had everything already set for me when I picked my machine up. I did not know that I could adjust the settings on my own like that. Can I do that without my doctors getting upset with me???

Humidity is a user comfort setting.

Leaks can help to cause dry mouth. That is, a leak, air comes out mouth.
for some of us. Dry mouth is related to stomach acid. Do you have GERD by any chance, it is often a co problem with sleep apnea.

I also had dry mouth before starting treatment.
