Suggest a mask based on this issue with the mirage quatro
I'm able to make the mirage quattro work with the forehead adjustment smashed all the way down... I must have a weird shaped face. Other than the nose piece occasionally leaking into my eyes, especially when my face gets oily I really like this mask... also it's a large and if it were any bigger it wouldn't fit on my face.
To find a solution you must admit there is a problem.

I can send you more masks for you to smash. I keep getting dozens of my new masks replacement and Medicare pays for them. But I replace masks only once a quarter and so they keep accumulating in my bedroom and now I probably got more than 50 masks with cushions. So please tell me how to smash them.stratapastor wrote:I'm able to make the mirage quattro work with the forehead adjustment smashed all the way down... I must have a weird shaped face. I would not give masks to anyone b/c it's against FDA laws. It's like sharing drugs.

I "fought" that mask a while back. If I remember right, the forehead piece should be loose. Enough to be able to almost slide a finger underneath it.

What??? You should report them for Medicare fraud. Are you not afraid they will be caught and Medicare will accuse you as a conspirator in fraud?

And we wonder why insurance costs go up and Medicare is covering less.avi123 wrote:

Maybe you should offer them to people who need them and cant afford them. That is so wasteful? Thats why eventually Medicare will fail!

Re: Suggest a mask based on this issue with the mirage quatro
I started out with the Quattro. It worked well for me until I lost some weight, and then it became too wide for my face. I could put it on at night, and it felt okay while I was awake, but as soon as I started to fall asleep and my face relaxed it would leak like crazy.stratapastor wrote:I'm able to make the mirage quattro work with the forehead adjustment smashed all the way down... Other than the nose piece occasionally leaking into my eyes, especially when my face gets oily I really like this mask... also it's a large and if it were any bigger it wouldn't fit on my face.
I then tried the comfort gel blue mask. Due to the cushion design, that seems to seal substantially better. However, the Comfort Gel Blue puts lots of pressure on the bridge of the nose, resulting in a bit of a flat spot there. Also, I found the Comfort Gel to be poorly made. The forehead adjustment mechanism would strip after just a few uses so I either had to have it too tight or too loose. Also, being on high pressure, the cushion would blow out around the surface where it connected with the mask. I think a slight design change would prevent this, but the manufacturer apparently never saw the need. I had to put a remzzz between the cushion and the mask to stop the leak.
I'm now trying the airfit 10 full face mask. It is apparently related to the Quattro mask, and is fairly similar. It requires no forehead support mechanism, has a similar comfort level to the Quattro, and seems to seal better for me. It might be worth a try for you.
Of course, the reason so many masks exist is because there are so many different faces. What works for me or anyone else on this board might not work for you. it's really a case of trial and error.

So you you have now stashed more than $5000 to $7000 worth of masksavi123 wrote:I keep getting dozens of my new masks from Nationwide for replacement and Medicare pays for them. Where are you located? Do you have any mediums? If you have a medium or two I can help you smash them! I have a large and a small in my travel bag left in my vehicle but neither one fits very well.avi123 wrote:I can send you more masks for you to smash. You are supposed to change masks every 3 months, cushions every 3 months, tubes 3 months, humidity chamber 6 months, headgear 6 months, felt filter biweekly, foam filter 6 months. The medical supply company calls and asks questions. If you answer yes, they send new supplies for the things your answers indicate are not working properly. If you say something is loose, leaks, is oily and can't be cleaned, is cracked or bent or flattened, it is replaced. If you don't change out the parts on schedule, you will accumulate parts and supplies, that is how he amassed so many. From now on, maybe he will use his supplies or stop saying the ones he has are in need of replacement.
