Side sleeping with Quattro Air FFM

Post by Morningglory » Thu May 21, 2015 11:17 am

As posted elsewhere, I am very new to sleeping with a mask and still learning.

So far, one of my biggest obstacles is that I usually fall asleep on my side, which is much more difficult with the FFM. I've looked at some CPAP pillows that would aid side sleeping, but I can't afford to buy pretty much anything for a couple weeks. In the meantime, I'm trying to sleep on the edge of my pillow so that the mask doesn't touch the pillow at all, but it seems to still get jostled pretty easily on my side.

So, two questions:
-What else can I try that is very little or no cost for now?
-Once I do buy a pillow, are there any that are especially good for side sleeping with the Quattro Air FFM?

Thank you.

Hi, sleep on my side every night with a Quattro FX FFM. I just have a contoured foam pillow from costco http://www.costco.com/Novaform-Supreme- ... 37008.html I've never had an issue. I just sleep toward the side of the pillow so the hose and drop down.

Can you afford to go to Walmart and get one of those cheap memory foam pillows and then cut out your own side cut outs for the mask like you see on those high dollar cpap pillows?

Bed pillow preference is pretty much like mask preference...up to each individual and what one person might love you might hate and what you might love that person might hate.

Using a cheap pillow as a trial for the cut out thing at least will give you some idea if the cut out idea will work for you and you might find that it doesn't have to cost a lot of money.

First, you should make sure you are using good positioning, irrespective of CPAP, for a sidesleeper. A couple of these videos may help - https://www.youtube.com/results?search_ ... +your+side .

Between Gramps and myself (We are both CPAPers.), there are three specialized CPAP pillows in the linen closet. We never found any advantage to any of them as compared to a plain, moderately flat pillow.

You are early on the learning curve and a little analysis of how you are positioning yourself and what exactly is interfering with the mask and then you may be able to figure out how to sleep on an ordinary pillow.
