Anyone use sinus clearing oil, goes into cpap intake?

Post by Doug450 » Sun May 03, 2015 7:10 pm

I seen that there is an oil available to clear stuffy sinuses that gets sucked in thru the air intake, I am thinking about getting some, do any of you
have any experience with this type of oil, I wonder if Vicks vapor rub would work.

The closest I'd come to that is putting it in the humidifier (and I probably wouldn't do that either).

The only thing you want going thru your machine is dry filtered air.

There are a number of Aromatherapy products designed to work with CPAP's.

Example:

They don't go into the humidifier, but rather on a cotton ball or other holder outside the air intake. Many forum users use them already.

Here is one designed for sinus clearing..

I use a little vicks on a q-tip in each nostril and wipe any residue off. That helps me keep my sinuses clear and makes breathing easier. I have just order the pur-sleep aromatherapy. Always wondered if there was anything like you use in a vaporizer but didn't want to put anything in machine that would gum up the works and vicks works good. I like the smell of vicks, but not everyone does.

Oil will put a coating inside the machine...I will also void any warranty you may have on your unit.

Uh, that's a pretty bad idea to put Vicks on mucousy parts, seriously.

Gasper is correct. Just put some Vick's on a cotton ball placed on a piece of aluminum foil near the air intake port. Use as little or as much as you require (you don't need to put it in your nose to get the sinus clearing benefits).

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

Pur sleep is quite good. My experience is the first few nights are MAGIC ! Clear sinus, low AHI but then you become desensitized - can't even smell it any longer and sleep benefits go away. That was my experience.

A cap from a soda or water bottle smeared lightly with Vicks works nicely. Or a drop or two of a GOOD QUALITY scented oil on a Qtip or cotton ball sitting in/on said cap. If the smell is too strong, simply move the cap farther from air inlet.

I use a plastic cap because even if oil drips off cotton or whatever, it goes into the cap, which doesn't leak, therefore, NO MESS.

There is a reason they use some essential oils to strip paint.
Now imagine that happening in your bronchi.
