New User - Which machine?

Post by dhindman » Mon Apr 27, 2015 12:19 pm

I am a new APAP user and have been using a loaner IntelliPAP from my DME. I am fine with the machine, but am planning on purchasing one soon and wanted to know if one is better than the other. I am brand new to this so don't understand all of the bells and whistles yet.

The 3 choices appear to be:

AirSense™ 10 AutoSet CPAP Machine with HumidAir™ Heated Humidifier

IntelliPAP AutoAdjust Travel CPAP Machine with SmartFlex

PR System One REMstar Auto CPAP Machine with A-Flex

Hi - I use the IP Auto, without the module or software, but do use the online codes from the screen to get basics - my OSA's not complicated and results are quite consistent. I like the machine very much (have had it now going on 4-5 yrs, though I'm not crazy about the humidifier, which is a bit fiddly. With the module/software, I'm sure you'll get more data, though if you're really into serious tech (even more parameters monitored) and want all the info available, the Air Sense 10 and PR S1 autos are apparently really up there, in this order.

That Wiki's a bit out of date... but still interesting of course.

What pressure are you using?
The ResMed's way of doing exhale relief might be an advantage over the other 2 if your pressure needs are in the double digits.

Are you wanting to use easily available software to monitor effectiveness of your therapy? If so, then you need to remember that the DiVilbiss needs that special module so you can use a SD card. So if purchasing out of pocket that adds to the cost. Though a lot of people are quite happy with the information the smart codes offer.

Each of the models/brands you listed have minor pros and cons but none are really deal breakers or makers.

I am using around 6-7.5 on pressure. I have been fine on the loaner with the smart codes info. Thank you!
