The popping noise is usually from water in your hose...not from the pillows. If you lift up the hose the water will run back to the humidifier. Make sure the machine is lower than the mattress.

There could be a tiny drop of moisture in those inner cones and it could cause the popping sound.
I have experienced that popping noise when I get rain out in the nasal pillows from the moisture in my own breath condensing and it has nothing to do with water in the hose...it's water in the nasal pillows.

It can be so tiny amount that you can't see or feel it easily.

Change the nasal pillows anyway...set these aside for the time being and let them thoroughly air out and dry...then try them again at a later date to see if it happens again.
