Selling LIke New ResMed VPAP S Need some help.

Post by althea » Sun Apr 26, 2015 12:07 am

Hello
First, what a great and informative community-a good go-to place for patients and family alike. I'm posting today to try and sell my ResMed VPAP S H4i machine I no longer can use for medical reasons and my doctor switched me to CPAP and new machine. I am an atypical patient with both OSA and severe Restrictive lung from accident (That is all a can post about my health as litigation is still ongoing) I barely used this machine if I remember correctly and it has been kept VERY clean and in a case and in storage. I'm trying to get my affairs in order. simplify my life and buy my my daughter a puddle-jumper (car) for college. (Every little bit counts). I am also on oxygen so this machine comes with a plastic Oxygen bleed-in. For the life of me I cannot remember my settings on this machine but I know they were very low at that time and I do not remember how to change the settings nor recall where I placed the darn manuals for this particular model, if they can be changed by the patient at all-that I can't remember either. I'm usually a stickler for keeping manuals with products and I thought the manual was in the case but it wasn't.

I was hoping you all could help me price this machine and inform me of a good place to sell it if possible. I really don't want to do the Ebay thing or Craigslist and I wouldn't mind selling it to a reseller. If I do recall t had a disk with my information on it which I'm concerned about in terms of identity-can someone clue me in on this?

I believe the machine has about 10 hours on it, has ramp and other settings. I have taken numerous pictures of it and a video. I have also tried it with my new nasal pillows and it worked fine-no leaks. I can't remember when I got this but it was a few years ago and I believe it was new when I could it from the DME company.

I try to keep my machines and tubing very clean but if you see anything in the pictures please let me know.-ewww. LOL

Please if you can, let me know what a fair price for this machine would be and where you think I could sell it fairly effortlessly. I am very ill and do not need the hassle of haggling and bidding wars.

Thank you kindly,

Gabby Althea

Gabby (Althea!), the S8 series machines were replaced by the S9 series, and now the AirCurve (10) VPAP replaces the S9 VPAP. I don't have a guess as to a fair price. But you might want to ask Second Wind CPAP if they would be interested in buying your machine. They buy and sell gently used machines and it looks like they continue to sell some of the S8 machines. Many of us have had positive experiences doing business with them. No haggling and all that business.

For the manual you could check the Apnea Board website -- link at the bottom of my signature box. The video tutorials link below also has a short video on accessing the menus for the S8 series machines if you want to see the current settings, but I wouldn't worry about the settings because the buyer will need to set the pressures to their own needs.

SecondWind would help you out with making sure there's no personal data stored in the machine.

Wow. OKay thank you so very much for this information.

Here is a link to some pictures of my machine. If anyone wants a video please feel free to PM me. It may be a few days before I respond as I'm feeling quite ill. Thank you so much. Gabby

P.S> Pardon the background mess as we are packing to move.

No problem. You did a good job with the photos. I would suggest one more thing: Those who know these machines would want to see the machine's total RUN hours. It's different from Use hours - Use hours can be reset to zero but the total Run hours cannot. To view the Run hours I think you need to get into the clinical menu. The little tutorial video (link below) will show you how to do that. Getting the Run hours on screen is more important than the video.

Let us know if you need more help.

HI Kaia,
I contacted SecondWind like you suggested and also another company. Hopefully I will hear something back soon. My daughter really needs a car and I want this out of my house. LOL
