Pulse oximeter

Post by datetree » Sat Apr 25, 2015 6:15 pm

Looking for an accurate pulse oximeter. Nonin says they are the only accurate one ( see their website). Many pulse oximteres sample every four seconds. That's not fast enough. Need one to export data for complete overnight reporting, preferably for several nights ( 3). Prefer wireless technology. I wonder if it is possible to have a pulse oximeter, without a finger sensor? Also, to connect to an apple computer or smartphone, for printing out reports. Prefer not to have to sleep with my smartphone on and next to me all night. Hexoskin makes a shirt that also measure lung volume and heart rate. If one combines the two, then all one lacks is brain wave and muscle recordings, and flow rate at mouth and nose, to make a complete home sleep study? ( separate question, but I couldn't resist). I have not researched all the pulse oximeters, but saw one by massimo, and i health, and the nonin models. Please dont make comments like: "I like mine", without addressing the accuracy question and one sec, or two sec sampling, and the need to connect to an apple computer, or online website to make reports. The question is: is Nonin correct, in saying only they are accurate? Thanks in advance.

Call Kevin (owner) and talk to him - he'll help and won't steer you just to more expensive ones... a popular one is the 50D+. As far as specific features, etc., you can find all the info you need on the site to choose what you're looking for.

You're welcome, but... good luck with the other thing because it won't happen. This forum has been allowed free expression for years and is not monitored the same way others are (though there are rules). PR is also well known to be difficult at times, but is also one of the smartest people here and we manage to tolerate him because of it. We're all grown ups (or like to think we are) and fight our own battles, insignificant and peurile as they usually are. Moderated forums are sad... no creativity, no flashes of brilliance.

Flashes of brilliance aside, calling someone an arrogant snot is not helpful. But that's what I get for trying to zoom in on the details of personal preference, without allowing so called free expression.

the negative attitude was started by your condescending requests.

had you come in and asked what a good oximeter was, you'd have gotten useful answers, in fact there's a couple threads on the front page of the forum, and MANY more available if you search.

I went to aliexpress and just ordered the 50i for $95.99. The 50iW is available for $109.03. Both prices include shipping. Delivery time was 10 days when I bought a 50F three years ago. I asked if they would honor the price for other members of a large group (when I looked back the price was higher). They said they would honor the quote given me for others. They gave me a link to make purchases at the given quote. Do you want one of these?

I reported Palerider's posts to staff. I doubt it will do any good if this forum is strictly SEO for cpap.com, but I am hoping there is at least 1 admin or mod that is paying attention.

@Datetree, thank you for asking the questions. I have been lurking this forum for over a year and have also been disappointed in the O2 sensor technology. Unfortunately the best option today is either the 50D (the cheapest but requires a glove or sock for overnight monitoring) or the 50I (3x the cost but is more convenient with wrist + finger sensor).

There are several vendors working on wrist / ear sensors, but I suspect it will be another year or two before the technology is ready. There were even rumors that Apple was working on an O2 senor with the Apple Watch, but passed on it because wrist sensor technology was still too immature.

Here are some of the products that I have been watching and hoping for a 2015 debut:
