went to the sleep doc last monday
went to the sleep doc last monday
I went to the sleep doc for my 1 month checkup.as far as usage 36 days 100% now I don't have to worry about Medicare yanking my machine. my avg. ahi was .6 and my leak rate was fantastic. the only 2 issues we had were 1- I'm looking at getting a hybrid mask do to mouth venting and she would like me to keep at the P10 because of my leak rate. 2- when I got the machine it was set to 11 I set it to 8-11 to help with the mouth venting, after so talk she said she can't argue the AHI I'm having so were keeping the setting. over all a great visit . also give me a script for nose spray hopefully my nose will quit running faster than I do .

Re: went to the sleep doc last monday
Great news. If you switch to a FFM, get a soft cervical collar to help with keeping your jaw up and keep the leaks low.
Jaw drop is one cause of leaks in FFMs and in the Oracle 452 mask I use.

Sorry, but it just seemed strange to me that you are 52 and you said that you worked in a hotel and your interest is motorcycles and archery.k_ogre wrote:Believe me I wish I didn't have to be on Medicare

You can also use a cervical collar and/or chin strap to help prevent mouth venting. I use one or the other each night with a nose pillow mask.
If you're not part of the solution you're just scumming up the bottom of the beaker!

Congratulations! It sounds like you are doing well and have a reasonable doctor.k_ogre wrote:Greyghost4 I do use a chin strap it help but I still sometimes mouth vent or pull it off while I sleep I am however hoping to learn to keep my mouth shut lol
You might want to consider taping as it seems to work well for for a bunch of people. And it's cheap. And you can get the tape at any drugstore.
I recently did a survey here to find out how many people used something to keep their mouth closed and what they use. You can see the results and comments people made here: viewtopic/t105320/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=1 ... lit=taping
Taping has been discussed in a number of threads that you can read. One I found quickly is here: viewtopic/t105320/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=1 ... pe#p990505
It's not as scary as it might sound - you cut a slit over your lips. There are plenty of people here who can give advice about the best way to do it if you want to give it a try.
