More important than the right mask

Post by herefishy » Sat Apr 18, 2015 4:34 pm

Is a hose management system, IMHO. I was turning over last night and caught my hose, which moved my mask, which leaked, and I thought to myself - wow! I bet a lot of people think they have a mask which leaks, when in reality the mask might be fine, but is being pulled to the side by lack of a hose management system. Once the system is in place, the mask stays in place. Is this a Eureka! moment?

You know for some people it could be something that simple....just a way to keep the hose from getting twisted or in a bind or pulling the mask off the face. A lot of masks these days don't have a lot to the headgear with minimal straps and all that. Like my P10 mask....or the Swift FX with the Bella Loops around the ears. Doesn't take much to pull the mask off the nose or face.

Me personally...with where I have the machine in relation to where I sleep I have tried it over head and laying around the bed pillow...I prefer just laying it on the mattress and routing it on the mattress and around the top of the bed pillow down to my nose. Having it hanging over my head bugged me.

If anyone wants to try one of those hose buddy hanging things...someone donated one. I need to try to figure out which one it is but I will send it to someone for cost of shipping.

Maybe - there are so many posts from people who say they have tried every mask on the market and nothing will work - for some, this might be the answer.

Yep...for some it might be the answer and it doesn't have to be a very costly answer and would be cheap and easy to at least try. A lot cheaper than buying masks.

Hose management systems don't have to be fancy or store bought...DIY projects are cheap and easy for those people who are handy.

Some masks make hose management much easier than others. My Breeze nasal pillow system routes the hose from the front of the nose to the top of my head which is very good for people who move around or turn a lot.

'And then I use that cheap cpap hose hanger from amazon that I've linked to before to give me play in the cpap hose itself. I never see or touch the hose - the whole thing just works.
