Airsense and Airfit Pro P10

Post by foxhunter » Sat Apr 18, 2015 11:42 am

I am on my second machine in six years of continuous CPAP use. My new machine is an Airsense by Resmed with P10 nasal pillows. I have been using this now for five months and am continually being flagged that my mask needs adjusting, that is "LEEK"
Whatever I do, I continue to have this problem. I have considered going back to the Swift FX pillows but hate to give up defeated. Anyone else had this problem and have any advice?
Thanks.

Who/what is telling you that your leak needs worked on?
The machine's Mr Smiley face or Mr Frowny face or the software?
Are you sleeping well or do whatever leaks you are experiencing waking you often?

Sleepyhead sometimes says that leaks are really bad and "you need to work on them" when really they were only bad for maybe 15 minutes and I don't worry about 15 minutes of big leak that I sleep right through....and sometimes I barely went into large leak territory anyway.

So if you are happy with the P10 otherwise...let's figure out just how bad the leak is before you change back to a mask that you don't like quite as well.

What pillow size are you using and have you tried the others?

Thankyou,
I am being "flagged" by Resmed's "My Air" daily report. My old machine used to alert me to a leak with a light. This one of course does not...Just a red face.
My pillow size is large and the others will not work. After six years of continuous use, my nostrils have expanded somewhat.
I have just had a heart valve replacement and my results on the CPAP machine are all over the place but that is to be expected. Seem to be sleeping as well as can be expected so for the time being will just ignore the leak situation.

Mr Frowny face doesn't show up until you spend more than 30% of the night with excess leak above 24 L/min.
It usually takes a lot of leak for Mr Frowny to arrive. While I have been known to let a little leak slide if I am sleeping well...I wouldn't let 30% or more slide unless I had no choice and there were extenuating circumstances.

That much leak could of course potentially seriously impact the therapy and the machine's ability to even record and respond...depending on just how far above 24 L/min that you go. If you never go above 30 L/min the machine is going to still be able to do a decent job but above 30 L/min it starts getting iffy and the farther above 30 L/min that you go the iffier it gets.

No way to accurately evaluate just how bad that leak is without the leak graphs from the software reports so you can see just how long you were in big leak territory and just how far you went.
