Getting started with CPAP - what I learned from my first 6 months

... letting your mouth dry out. Taping also helps with using a full mask with facial hair - to some extent. 7. Sleeping on your side. I used to be a supine (back) sleeper, and wasn’t able to sleep on my side. Using my chin strap and tape I was able to start sleeping on my side. This reduced the AHI ...

... but definitely helps the apnea and (on my left) the reflux. CPAP has cured the reflux but at the normal pressures I could not go on my back (supine). I had a bi-level titration which the tech had me go supine and set my pressures while watching my EEG, blood O2, etc. Now I use a bi-level ...

... EPAP=9. OK... that makes more sense. Still, bi-level gives better support than EPR IMO... when I was using EPR I'd feel my palate slap hard when supine during the breath transition to exhale. Even though I'm on more differential it's better because a) the inhales are pumped instead of the exhales ...

... penny. It tells the tale of how your therapy is going. I've experimented with MAD... it did lower my APAP pressures about 2cm and did let me go supine at normal pressures. Now that I'm on Herculean bi-level pressures it doesn't do much and I've discontinued it. I used the SnoreMD, available ...

... things. You should see an ENT, they can usually just take a look and make an educated guess... mine said 'tongue'. When I use the MAD I can sleep supine no issues... if I don't use it I can feel it catch sometimes when supine. The big bi-level pressures do help, you really need good sea legs to ...

Re: Too much brain fog to sort this out - heading in right direction or no?

What happened at 03:20? Did you go supine, on your back? The machine wanted more... you're limited to 12cm... but it looks like your mask fit wouldn't handle it anyway. Try to get off 4cm min pressure... and fit your mask at 12cm if you can.... ...

... or chin strap will keep your jaw up. If you're like me then mouth taping tightly with lips tucked will let you relax and move your jaw forward. Supine all bets are off. As noted below (above?), anything more than mouth-taping moves my jaw *back*, since my normal bite is not good for OSA. My ...
