I'm tired again

Post by Chairman Meow » Wed Apr 01, 2015 8:26 am

I started CPAP four weeks ago with a Wisp - had a few good nights and then started have long (30 min+) large leaks. I switched to Airfit P10 for her - using medium nasal pillows - and did great for a week or more. Then a few nights in a row, I woke up to air leaking out around my nares - I readjusted and went back to sleep and when I checked Sleepyhead there were no large leaks, so I didn't worry about it too much.

After almost a week of these tiny leaks I decided that maybe the air holes were just too big on the medium pillows, so two nights ago I switched to the small pillows. In theory that worked great, no more tiny leaks, no irritating air hissing and blowing in my eyes when the pillows shift - but both yesterday and today I feel exhausted. Almost exactly the same as I felt before I started CPAP.

According to Sleepyhead my AHI was under 1 both nights, my leak line was practically flat - but I don't feel rested at all. Most every other morning since I started CPAP I wake up before the alarm even goes off, feeling refreshed and ready to start the day. These last two days it was everything I had to not hit the snooze button, and now I'm sitting at my desk fighting off sleep.

I can't post my graphs from work... but is there something I should be looking at to help me see what the problem is? Should I switch back to the medium pillows for a few nights and see if I feel better? Any other suggestions?

I went to sleep at the same time as usual, I haven't started any new medications, I don't feel like I'm coming down with a cold or anything, there've been no drastic changes in temperature or humidity. The only thing different was the switch to the small pillows (and I changed the Plug In in the bedroom to a new scent...but surely that isn't it... right?)

Lost track of your earlier threads (best to stick to them even if they're a bit older so we can see all), so don't know if this came up, but have you had recent lab work looking for other problems not OSA related?
