might need a ffm
might need a ffm
After thru wisp that was ok but leaked I moved to the airfit p10 great fit no leaks feels great but air keeps shooting out my mouth. Ive tried a chin strap but it stills happens. So we set the autoset to give a lower base pressure but still doing it so it looks like a full face mask is in order I have no idea about them what are the good and what ones to avoid ?

Re: might need a ffm
The Resmed Airfit and Quattro Air are more narrow fitting around the bridge and cheeks and I couldn't get them to seal. The Fisher & Paykel Simplus is a lot wider and more comfortable but I still can't get used to a ffm.

Sorry to read about your issues. I use the Zzz-Mask Full Face CPAP Mask by Probasics. I like that it does not have the forehead support, and more then anything else I like the price. Compared the price to Resmed masks this mask is half price, and the replacement cushions are about half also. The mask works well for me, but every one is different. I have high pressure settings of 23/19, and so far served me well.
I wish you well...

Re: might need a ffm
I've been using my ResMed Ultra Mirage Full Face (UMFF) almost exclusively since I started therapy in May of 2005. I've tried a few others but nothing measured up, so I've stuck with it. I've gotten YEARS of use out of the cushions/seals and the headgear, so it's a pretty low maintenance mask. And, all the parts are replaceable in case something breaks.

Re: might need a ffm
I've used nothing but a FFM, starting with Quattro Air, and then the Airfit F10. I liked them both, but I am IN LOVE with the F10 as it doesn't have a forehead strap. I keep the Air for a backup, but I'm not sure I'd be as comfortable with it now that I've gotten used to not having the forehead strap. I do use RemZzz liners as I have trouble with leaks otherwise ... the Air and the F10 use the same cushion, which I've learned does have the reputation of being a leaky mask but everyone responds differently, and not everyone needs to use a liner. If you have mask swap options from your DME you might be able to try it out and see how you like it before committing to it.

Now using AirFit F10 mask; Quattro Air is backup mask. RemZzzz mask liners with both.
Re: might need a ffm
For me it was decided in sleep tests that nothing but a FFM would do. I still tried to give others a chance but my mouth breathing seems to not be overcome even with chin straps rendering nasal pillows and other types ineffective. After years of struggling with various FFM's and very poor sealing results I have switched to the AirFit f10 and find it an improvement in comfort and ability to stay put. It also seems to not be affected by skin oils as much as other cushions. As far as I can tell the cushion is attached to it and not replaceable. My supplier never sends extra cushions as with all other models. I can tighten it down stronger with comfort which others would not provide and even dented my nose. For me is has been a long personal hunt for something that works. It would be great if your face could be scanned and the FFM for your structure could be prescribed..or custom made. Not yet I guess. I would go with a true FFM but they seem difficult to find. It looks sort of like a catcher's baseball mask.

Are you using the #2 blue LeakStopper that came with your CPAP machine? That should stop any mouth leaks.k_ogre wrote:After thru wisp that was ok but leaked I moved to the airfit p10 great fit no leaks feels great but air keeps shooting out my mouth.
